A terminated cable portion inspection device (8) for a stripped terminal crimping machine, which is located on a bidirectional path (P) between a stripping portion and a terminal crimping portion and includes: an image pickup camera (11) having a high shutter speed; an illuminating device (12) including a pair of illuminating portions (20) on opposite sides of a photographing path (19) of the image pickup camera (11) for directing illumination in substantially the same direction as a photographing direction toward a cable end passing therethrough along the bidirectional path (P) and elongated in substantially the same direction as a longitudinal direction of the cable, and optical fibers (22) for guiding light to light projecting portions (23) of the illuminating portions (20); and a detector (13) including first and second sensors (31, 32) for detecting the cable end. Each of the illuminating portions (20) includes a transmitted light scattering plate (27) between each of the light projecting portions (23) and the bidirectional path (P), and a spacing (28) between each of the light projecting portions (23) and the transmitted light scattering portion (27) for diffusing light.

Terminated cable portion inspection device for stripped terminal

An illuminating device for use in a terminated cable part inspection device for a stripped terminal crimping machine is of a reflected image capturing type and can ensure a satisfactory illuminance required for photographing. The stripped terminal crimping machine includes a stripping portion and a terminal crimping portion between which the terminated cable part inspection device (8) is located on a bidirectional path (P). The terminated cable part inspection device (8) includes an image pickup camera (11) having a high shutter speed, an illuminating means (12), and a detecting means (13) including first and second sensors (31, 32) for detecting the cable. The illuminating means (12) includes a pair of illuminating portions (20) on opposite sides of a photographing path (19) of the image pickup camera (11) for directing illumination in substantially the same direction as a photographing direction toward a cable end passing therethrough along the bidirectional path (P) and elongated in substantially the same direction as a longitudinal direction of the cable. The illuminating portions (20) are arranged in inwardly inclined relation.

Method and device for illumination in terminated cable part inspection

A solderless terminal inspecting method and apparatus for determining if a solderless terminal has been satisfactorily crimped against an electric conductor has a main illuminating device for illuminating a solderless terminal having illuminating elements extending in substantially the same direction as a length of a solderless terminal. The inspecting apparatus also includes an auxiliary illuminating device for illuminating a solderless terminal in a direction opposite to the illuminating direction of the main illuminating device. The apparatus also includes an illuminated image receiving device for receiving the illuminated image of the solderless terminal. The image of the solderless terminal received by the image receiving device is binary-coded by using at least one binary level determined according to an area histogram which has been obtained in advance, and an image processing device determines from the image whether the solderless terminal is correctly crimped to the electric conductor.

Method and apparatus for inspecting a solderless terminal by image

A method for inspecting the stripped condition of an electric wire permits inspection of electric wires having a tip portion of various configuration with high accuracy and reliability. In this method, stripped condition is judged to be good or not good by: illuminating a core 6 at a tip portion of the electric wire 4 and its vicinity by means of illumination means 11; imaging the core and its vicinity by means of imaging means 12, the imaging means disposed in opposite relation to the illumination means 11 with the electric wire 4 therebetween; determining coordinate position of stripped end of the sheath in an imaging plane using illumination data of a picture obtained by the imaging means; determining coordinate position of the tip end of the core 6 in the imaging plane, as well as shape of the core 6, such as inclination of the core 6; determining as to whether the coordinate position of the stripped end is within a standard range, whether length and thickness of the core are within a standard range, or whether strands come out of the core.

Method for inspecting stripped condition of electric wire

In an image processor for detecting incomplete articles the image of a complete article is produced by a television camera so as to record the image, and the operator designates an area of the complete article that is considered to be essential in judging whether or not the subject of the inspection is complete while observing the reproduced image. Following this, the image of an inspection article is produced by another television camera. The video signals are binarized, and the number of the picture elements of the inspection article within the designated area is then counted. The inspection article is judged as being incomplete when this counted value fails to conform to the reference value obtained by statistically processing the number of the picture elements of the complete article.
