In an actuator, coils are kept from being displaced along a y-axis direction as projections of coil bobbins are sandwiched between first and second iron cores along the y-axis direction. Also, the coils are kept from being displaced excessively along x- and z-axis directions due to shocks, for instance, because they are fitted in groovelike channels fitted in the first and second iron cores. Since two bearings are sandwiched and fixed between third and fourth iron cores along the x-axis direction, the bearings can be easily set on a common axis with high accuracy. It is therefore possible to prevent displacement of the coils during operation of the actuator. Slidable support plates ensure smooth movements of an armature and thereby provide improved reliability, even when the distance between the support plates and the first to fourth iron cores is reduced.

In an image pick-up and display apparatus comprising a liquid crystal display device (34), an image pick-up device (24) and a partially transparent mirror (36), the display device is arranged at the front side of the apparatus (30), the partially transparent mirror is disposed behind this device (32) in light paths respectively between the display device and the light source (38) for illuminating this display device and between the image pick-up device (24) and the display device (32), so that the received image can be displayed in a natural way and the optical information of a subject in front of the apparatus is not disturbed by light from the light source.

A flat motor includes a rear bracket 1 of magnetic material, a permanent magnet 2 fixed to an end of the rear bracket, a front bracket 3 of magnetic material facing the permanent magnet, an armature 4 having a coil 5 thereof, a rotary shaft 7 for rotatably supporting the armature between the front bracket and the permanent magnet, and a commutator 6 pressure-fixed on the rotary shaft. A rotor 15 of a rotation detector 11 is fixed on the rotary shaft and has teeth 15c along its outer periphery. A stator 11d has an inner periphery facing the rotor teeth, a cover member 11h houses a magnet 11c and a coil 11b, the cover member being affixed to the rear bracket, and coupling members 6a, 15b establish a direct connection between the rotor and the commutator.

A magnetic head shifting apparatus for flexible disk memory system wherein kinetic energy of an arm is absorbed by means of a cushioning material interposed between the arm and an abutment of a shackle rod thereby to reduce a transient period of time which is the one until the memory medium and magnetic heads reach their stable state, while damage of the memory medium is suppressed in steady state, whereby stable electromagnetic conversion characteristics can be obtained.
