A heat roller includes a main body and a follower gear. The main body includes a cutaway portion and a pair of protruding plate portions. The follower gear includes a transmission protrusion and an abutment portion. The transmission protrusion is abutted against one protruding plate portion, when the follower gear rotates. The abutment portion is abutted against the one protruding plate portion, when the main body rotates in advance. A size of the transmission protrusion along the width direction of the cutaway portion is smaller than a clearance between the pair of protruding plate portions in the width direction, and a clearance between the abutment portion and the one protruding plate portion in the roller rotation direction is narrower than a clearance between the transmission protrusion and the other protruding plate portion in the roller rotation direction, when the transmission protrusion is in contact with the one protruding plate portion.

A fixing device includes a rotatable cylindrical heating roller, a heat source and a pressing roller. The heat source is arranged in a hollow inner space of the heating roller. The pressing roller is pressed against the heating roller to form a fixing nip through which a sheet is passed in a sheet passing direction. The heating roller has a substrate layer and a heat conductive layer. The substrate layer is formed such that both end portions in a width direction perpendicular to the sheet passing direction are made thinner than a center portion in the width direction, within a sheet passing area through which the sheet is passed. The heat conductive layer is provided around an outer circumferential face of the substrate layer and has a heat conductivity higher than the substrate layer.

Fixing device including heating roller and image forming apparatus

A fixing device includes a cylindrical heat roller, a heating element, a pressure roller, and an auxiliary roller. The heating element is provided inside the heat roller and configured to apply heat to the heat roller. The pressure roller is configured to be pressed against the heat roller to form, with the heat roller, a nip area where a recording paper sheet is to be nipped. The auxiliary roller is provided inside the heat roller and configured to be pressed toward the pressure roller with a peripheral wall of the heat roller in between. An outer peripheral surface of the auxiliary roller pressed against an inner peripheral surface of the heat roller is formed into an inverted crown shape so that an outside diameter of the auxiliary roller gradually decreases from both axial ends of the auxiliary roller toward an axial center thereof.

A fixing device includes a housing, a belt member, a pressure roller, a nip forming member, and a pressing member. The belt member is constituted of a flexible tubular shape. The nip forming member is located at an inner peripheral portion of the belt member. The nip forming member has an opposed surface along an outer peripheral surface of the pressure roller. The nip forming member presses the belt member to the pressure roller. An end portion of the outer peripheral surface of the pressure roller is located inside with respect to an end portion of the belt member. The fixing device includes a pressing member located opposed to the pressure roller in the axial direction. The pressing member presses an outer peripheral surface of the end portion of the belt member in the axial direction to radially inward of the belt member.

The pressuring member comes into pressure contact with the fixing belt to form a fixing nip and is arranged rotatably. The driving member is arranged so as to sandwich the fixing belt with the pressuring member and rotates the fixing belt. The slide contact member is arranged so as to sandwich the fixing belt with the pressuring member and comes into slide contact with the fixing belt. The fixing belt is engaged around the driving member and slide contact member with a state having looseness at least partially.

A fixing device according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a fixing belt, a pressure member, a heating member, a pressing member, and a heat source. The fixing belt is rotational. The pressure member is rotational and is brought into press-contact with the fixing belt to form a fixing nip. The heating member is rotational and is disposed to interpose the fixing belt between the heating member and the pressure member. The pressing member is disposed to interpose the fixing belt between the pressing member and the pressure member and presses the fixing belt toward the pressure member side. The heat source is disposed radially inside the fixing belt and radially outside the heating member. Radiant heat radiated from the heat source directly reaches the fixing belt, the heating member, and the pressing member.

A fixing device includes a fixing member, a pressure member, and a separation roller. The fixing member is configured to rotate in a first direction. The pressure member is configured to rotate in a second direction so as to allow fixing target to pass between the fixing member and the pressure member. The separation roller is configured to rotate only in the same direction as the first direction to separate the fixing target from the fixing member or to rotate only in the same direction as the second direction to separate the fixing target from the pressure member.

The separating mechanism includes a claw member having a tip portion held in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the fixing roller for separating the sheet from the fixing roller, a supporting member pivotably supporting the claw member, and a biasing member for biasing the claw member toward the outer circumferential surface of the fixing roller so that the tip portion of the claw member presses the fixing roller.
