A method for fixing a nose unit having a shroud panel to the front portion of a car body. Shroud upper fixing brackets are temporarily attached to the shroud panel before various parts are mounted on the shroud panel so as to assemble the nose unit on a car assembly line. The brackets serve to fix the shroud panel to the car body. In the state of temporary attachment, the brackets are welded to the car body. Then, the shroud panel is removed from the brackets. The various parts are attached to the shroud panel so as to assemble the nose unit. The shroud panel of the nose unit is fastened to the brackets, so that the nose unit is fixed to the car body.

Method for assembling a car

There is provided a process for the heat treatment of coal which comprises heating and drying low grade coal such as subbituminous coal and brown coal containing less than 80% of carbon and more than 33% of volatile matter (dry mineral matter-free basis) and having a high moisture content and a particle diameter smaller than 2 inches, with a high-temperature gas containing less than 5% of oxygen in a fluidized bed for 2-10 minutes until the coal temperature reaches 180.degree.-400.degree. C., and subsequently cooling the coal by spraying water in a fluidized bed for 2-10 minutes until the coal temperature decreases to 60.degree. C. or below at which time the coal holds the maximum moisture given by wetting. The heating process may be performed in two steps, in which case coal is heated with a high-temperature gas to 80.degree.-150.degree. C. in the first step so that the moisture of coal is reduced below the inherent moisture. The cooling process may be performed in two steps, in which case heated coal is rapidly cooled to about 120.degree. C. with a cooling gas of high steam content in the first step.

Process for heat treatment of coal

A pillared structure of a gas-treating apparatus of a construction such that a plurality of chambers defined by partition members adjoin in a circular arrangement in the outer peripheral part of a rotary cage, each chamber being packed with an adsorbent, the cage being adapted to rotate, bringing the chambers by turns into at least an adsorption zone and then a desorption zone, characterized in that a plurality of hollow pillars for holding the partition members in place are rigidly joined at the lower ends to the upper surfaces of a plurality of rigid bottom beams radially extending from a central rotating shaft of the cage, and that holes are formed in the pillars for introducing a cooling fluid into the uprights.

Pillared structure of gas-treating apparatus

In a process for heat treatment, highly hygroscopic coal, with a low carbon content and large equilibrium moisture, is rapidly heated with hot gas at a rate of temperature rise of at least 100.degree. C./min up to a final heating temperature in the range of 300.degree.-500.degree. C., and is then rapidly cooled at a rate of temperature drop of at least 50.degree. C./min to 250.degree. C. or below. As the hot gas, an inert gas whose oxygen concentration is not higher than 4% by volume is employed. The hot gas is either caused to contain not less than 20% by volume of steam or composed solely of the steam.
