A leakage detecting device is connected to an evaporating fuel processing apparatus to detect leakage of evaporating fuel in a ventilation apparatus that includes an electric pump, a fuel tank, and a filter. The electric pump includes a pump portion and a motor portion. The pump portion is capable of generating at least one of pressurizing force and de-pressurizing force. The motor portion drives the pump portion. The filter absorbs fuel evaporating in the fuel tank. The leakage detecting device generates pressure difference between the inside of the ventilation apparatus and the outside of the ventilation apparatus in accordance with the pressurizing force and the de-pressurizing force generated using the electric pump to detect a leakage condition of the ventilation apparatus. The leakage detecting device includes a rotation speed controlling means that controls rotation speed of the motor portion at a predetermined rotation speed.

Leakage detecting device for evaporating fuel processing apparatus

A vane pump includes a motor arrangement, a rotor, a casing and bolts. The motor arrangement includes a mount. The rotor includes vanes and is rotated by the motor arrangement. The casing has opposed first and second end surfaces and makes flat surface contact with the mount at the second end surface thereof. The casing includes a pump chamber, receiving through holes and second end side recesses. The pump chamber receives the rotor. The receiving through holes penetrate through the casing. The second end side recesses are recessed in the second end surface of the casing. The second end side recesses are spaced away from the receiving through holes. Each bolt is received through a corresponding one of the receiving through holes of the casing, and each bolt is threadably engaged with the mount to connect the casing to the mount.

Vane pump and fuel vapor leakage check module having the same

A vane pump is composed of a casing having a cylindrical inner bore and a rotor disposed in the inner bore with an eccentric relation to the inner bore. A circular pump chamber formed between the rotor and the inner bore is divided by vanes disposed in the rotor into plural pump chambers each changing its capacity according to rotation of the rotor. The vane is slidably disposed in a groove formed in the rotor in a slanted relation with respect to a rotational axis of the rotor. When the rotor rotates, the vane is pushed backward of the rotational direction by fluid in the pump chamber. The pushing force includes a component for pushing the vane upward toward an upper plate closing an upper opening of the inner bore. The vane is pushed against the upper plate to thereby prevent hitting noises between the vane and the upper plate.

A pump generates a gas flow within a measurement passage having an orifice. A differential pressure sensor detects a pressure difference between both ends of the orifice. Switching valves are disposed in the measurement passage to create a first concentration measurement state in which the measurement passage is opened at both ends thereof and the gas flowing through the measurement passage is the atmosphere, and a second concentration measurement state in which the measurement passage is in communication at both ends thereof with a canister and the gas flowing through the measurement passage is a fuel vapor-containing air-fuel mixture provided from the canister. An ECU calculates a fuel vapor concentration by based on a pressure difference detected in the first concentration measurement state and a pressure difference detected in the second concentration measurement state.

Fuel vapor treatment system for internal combustion engine

In a variable air induction apparatus, a valve element is switched between one side to open a first air intake passage and close a second air intake passage, and the other side to open the second air intake passage and to close the first air intake passage. The first air intake passage and the second air intake passage have lengths different from each other. The valve element is fixed on a shaft member to rotate integrally with the shaft. A driving device applies a driving force to rotate the shaft member. An urging device urges the shaft member to rotate the valve element to be switched to any one of the one side and the other side.

Variable air induction apparatus

A fuel vapor leak check module has a pump discharging an air through an outlet. When the fuel vapor check module is mounted on a vehicle, an outlet of the pump is opened downwardly in the gravity direction. A housing has an opening provided above the outlet. The foreign particles discharged from the outlet of the pump are deposited on the inner surface of the housing. The foreign particles hardly reach to the opening even if the discharged air pushes up the foreign particles. Thus, the foreign particles are separated from the discharged air by the gravity to avoid the scatter thereof.

Fuel vapor leak check module

A fuel vapor leak check module has a pressure sensor and a pump driven by a brushless motor. The pressure sensor is disposed at a place opposite to the inlet. A sensor room in which the pressure sensor is disposed communicates with the inlet of the pump through a pressure introducing passage and a pump-passage. Even if a pressure fluctuation arises at an inlet of the pump, a pressure fluctuation of the pressure in the fuel tank is restricted. Furthermore, the control circuit for the brushless motor is cooled by air flowing through a discharge passage. The sensor room is restricted from the discharge passage so that the discharged air hardly flows into the pressure room to enhance the accuracy of fuel vapor detection.

A fuel vapor leak check module has a pump for generating a pressure gradient between an inside and an outside of a fuel tank. The pump is driven by a motor which has driving shaft supported by a bearing. A lubricant is provided between the driving shaft and the bearing. When the pump is operated, a pressure gradient between a pump-side space and a motor-side space is generated whereby a lubricant is introduced from one of the pump-side space and the motor-side space to another, so that the introduced lubricant deteriorates the pump performance or motor performance. To avoid such a situation, communication passage is provided which communicates the motor-side space and the pump-side space. The inner pressure of the motor-side space becomes equal to that of the pump-side space.

In a vane pump, a rotor chamber is defined within a housing that includes a ring and first and second plates. An inlet is communicated with the rotor chamber through an intake groove, and an outlet is communicated with the rotor chamber through a discharge groove. A rotor, which has a plurality of radially reciprocable vanes, is rotatably received in the rotor chamber, and a plurality of volume variable pump chambers is defined by the vanes between an inner peripheral wall surface of the housing and an outer peripheral surface of the rotor. The discharge groove includes a first end and a second end, and the second end is positioned away from the first end in the rotational direction of the rotor. The outlet extends directly from the second end of the discharge groove.

An evaporative emission leak detection system provides for detecting a leakage of a fuel vapor evaporating in a fuel tank by using a pressure difference between an inside and outside of the fuel tank. The system includes a pump for providing the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the fuel tank, a brushless motor for operating the pump, a first passage connecting to the fuel tank, a second passage connecting to the outside of the fuel tank, and a switching device for switching connections between the pump and at least one of the first passage and the second passage. The first passage has an adsorbent for adsorbing the fuel vapor. This system ensures a long life time and high accuracy of the leak detection.

Evaporative emission leak detection system with brushless motor

An evaporated fuel purge system has a fuel tank, an adsorption filter and a purge control valve. The evaporated fuel purge system is pressurized and depressurized through a venting flow path by a pump, so that the state of leakage therefrom is thereby inspected. For this inspection, a motor unit for driving the pump which applies or reduces pressure, an in-vehicle battery and a voltage control circuit which controls a battery voltage to a predetermined voltage and supplies the motor unit with a current are provided. A switchover valve is integrated with the pump, the motor and the like into a single module.

Leak check device for evaporated fuel purging system

A single actuator such as an electric motor is used to actuate a shift range changing mechanism of an automatic transmission. The motor has a plurality of torque generating units each of which is capable of generating a torque sufficient to effect any shift range changes of the shift range changing mechanism. All of the torque generating units are driven electrically normally in response to a shift range change command. Operation of each torque generating unit is monitored separately from each other. When one of the torque generating units fails in operation, the torque generating unit in failure is not driven but the other torque generating units are driven to effect a shift range change. The failure of the torque generating units is indicated on an indicator in a vehicle. The motor may be a brushless type or a reluctance type.
