An NO.sub.x sensor is produced by sintering a plurality of columnar crystals of .beta.-type Nb.sub.2 O.sub.5. The average value M of aspect ratios b/a (wherein a represents a width and b represents a length) in the columnar crystals is set in a range of 2.11&lt;M.ltoreq.5. The NO.sub.x sensor has a high sensitivity to NO.sub.x via an enhancement attained by control of crystal type and structure.

NO.sub.x sensor for exhaust gas, and process for producing the same

An NOx sensor for an exhaust gas is made from .beta.-Nb.sub.2 O.sub.5 as a primary component and TiO.sub.2 as a subsidiary component. The TiO.sub.2 content is in a range of 0.1% by weight .ltoreq.TiO.sub.2 .ltoreq. 20% by weight. In place of TiO.sub.2, Ru may be used in the NOx sensor. The Ru content is in a range of 0.1% by weight .ltoreq.Ru.ltoreq. 10% by weight. Thus, the NOx sensor has an excellent NOx adsorbing ability and is higher in sensitivity to NOx in an exhaust gas.

NOx sensor for exhaust gas and method for producing same

A high cold-forging electromagnetic stainless steel comprises not more than 0.02 wt. % of C, not more than 0.50 wt. % of Si, not more than 0.50 wt. % of Mn, 10.0-18.0 wt. % of Cr, 0.30-1.50 wt. % of Mo, 0.05-0.50 wt. % of Ti, 0.30-2.00 wt. % of Al, 0.0005-0.05 wt. % of B, not more than 0.05 wt. % of N and the balance being substantially Fe. This steel may further contain a given amount of at least one of Nb, V, Pb, Ca, Se, S and REM. Such stainless steel is used as a material of parts in an electronically controlled fuel injection system.

High cold-forging electromagnetic stainless steel

An alloy for use in an exhaust valve of an automotive vehicle is disclosed, which consists of C: 0.01-0.15%, Si.ltoreq.2.0%, Mn.ltoreq.0.5%; Cr: 15-25%, Mo: 0.4-3.1% and W: 0.2-3.8% so that (Mo+1/2W) is 0.5 to 5.0%, Nb+Ta: 0.3-3.0%, Ti: 1.5-3.5%, Al: 0.5-2.5%, B: 0.001-0.02%, Fe.ltoreq.5% and the balance of Ni or Ni+Co.

Alloys for exhaust valve

Wear-resistant, sintered iron alloys are provided. The alloys have a structure in which iron-based hard particles having a relatively high Cr content and copper or copper alloy particles are dispersed in an iron alloy matrix containing a relatively low content of Cr. The alloys are prepared by compression molding powders of the matrix alloy, the hard alloy, copper or copper alloy, an Fe-P alloy and graphite and sintering the obtained molding at a temperature of 980.degree. to 1130.degree. C.

Wear-resistant, sintered iron alloy and process for producing the same

An alloy for use in exhaust valves is disclosed, which consists by weight percentage of 0.01.about.0.15% of C, not more than 2.0% of Si, not more than 2.5% of Mn, 53.about.65% of Ni, 15.about.25% of Cr, 0.3.about.3.0% of Nb, 2.0.about.3.5% of Ti, 0.2.about.1.5% of Al, 0.0010.about.0.020% of B, and the remainder being substantially Fe. If necessary, the alloy further contains at least one element selected from 0.001.about.0.030% of Mg, 0.001.about.0.030% of Ca and 0.001.about.0.050% of REM.

Alloys for exhaust valves

A sintered alloy for a valve seat comprising, in weight percent, 0.5 to 1.7% C, 0.5 to 2.5% Ni, 3.0 to 8.0% Cr, 0.1 to 0.9% Mo, 1.0 to 3.8% W and 4.5 to 8.5% Co, the balance being substantially Fe provided by a base atomized powder; said alloy containing 8 to 14% by volume of 250 mesh or less C-Cr-W-Co-Fe and Fe-Mo hard grains and 6 to 13% by volume of cells, with the continuous cells being infiltrated by a copper alloy.

Sintered alloy for valve seat

The present invention relates to a dual-layer sintered valve seat ring having high stiffness and strength. The features of such ring are: fusion infiltration of Cu into the pores of a ferrous sintered body; hard alloy particles dispersed in the matrix of the valve seat body; the composition of the base and the ferrous sintered body; high density; and, diffusion of an alloying element of the hard particles around them and into the matrix.
