A manufacturing method of a clad material composed of a bronze alloy and a steel is provided, including: scattering a bronze alloy powder on a steel back metal; sintering the bronze alloy powder to obtain a bilayer material having a porous bronze alloy layer on the steel; dry-rolling and a sintering the bilayer material so that the bronze alloy layer has a porosity of 3% or less; and wet-rolling the bilayer material with supplying a rolling oil to surfaces of rolling rolls. The clad manufactured according to this method can be heat-treated without an disadvantage in a conventional wet-rolling that entering rolling oil vaporizes in the bronze alloy layer during the heat treatment to form new voids. Therefore, it becomes possible to make a bronze alloy layer high in density in small times of rolling, thus enabling an increase in production efficiency.

Method of manufacturing a clad material of bronze alloy and steel

There is provided a copper-based sliding alloy excellent in wear resistance and anti-seizure property. A phase of 2 to 30 wt. % lead is dispersed in the copper alloy. This lead phase contains 0.1 to 6 vol. % hard particles such as SiC, SiO,, Si,N,, Al,O,, TiC, WC and TiN having an average particle size of 5 to 25 &mgr;m. Because hard particles are included in the lead phase, wear resistance is excellent and anti-seizure property is improved. The lead phase, which is soft, serves as a cushion and the attack on a mating member by hard particles is reduced. Further, the falling-off of lead is minimized because the lead phase also includes the hard particles.

Copper-based sliding alloy

A copper-based sliding member having excellent resistance to corrosion with sulfur and a Vickers hardness of 80 to 150, prepared by bonding to a backing metal layer a sliding layer comprising more than 35% by weight but not more than 43% by weight of Zn, the balance being composed of Cu, by a pressure-bonding method, subjecting the pressure-bonded assembly to diffusion-annealing and subjecting the assembly to work-hardening treatment to allow the sliding layer softened by the diffusion-annealing to have a Vickers hardness to 80 to 150. Said sliding member is excellent in resistance to corrosion with sulfur even under the conditions that a lubricating oil having a high sulfur concentration is used and also excellent in wear resistance.

Copper-based sliding member

A sliding bearing assembly excellent in fretting resistance which comprises a sliding bearing and a housing, the sliding bearing having a bearing alloy layer in the internal surface of its backing metal layer and the internal surface of the housing being fitted with the sliding bearing, wherein a phosphate film is formed on the back of the backing metal layer of the sliding bearing, the phosphate film being composed of needle crystals or columnar crystals which have a particle size of not more than 30 .mu.m when observed from the back of the backing metal layer.

Sliding bearing assembly

A multi-layered bearing having superior load-resistance comprises an aluminium base bearing alloy layer and a backing metal layer. The bearing alloy consists essentially of, by weight, 2-8% zinc, 0.1-8% silicon, 0.1-3% copper, 0.05-3% magnesium and the balance of aluminium. The bearing alloy is subjected to a solution treatment and an artificial aging treatment, and it has a hardness of Hv 70 or greater. The bearing alloy may contain at least one element selected from the following five elements of lead, manganese, vanadium, chromium and nickel, and may further contain strontium and/or titanium and boron. The hardness of the bearing alloy may be Hv 70 or higher by performing solution treatment on a bimetal at a temperature of 400.degree. C. or higher before the plastic working, and further by performing an artificial aging treatment thereon at a temperature of 250.degree. C. or lower.

Aluminum base alloy bearing having superior load-resistance and method

A post-etch treatment method capable of imparting high corrosion prevention performance to the aluminum-containing wiring films. The sample of aluminum-containing wiring material that is etched using the halogen-type gas is treated with the plasma of a gas that has the oxygen component, and the resist formed on the aluminum-containing wiring material is reacted with oxygen and is removed. Further, the plasma is generated using a gas having the hydrogen component or this gas is liquefied into droplets thereof on the sample surface, so that halogen components (Cl, Br, etc.) adhered to the aluminum-containing wiring material through the etching treatment are reacted with hydrogen and are effectively removed in the form of hydrogen chloride (HCl) or hydrogen bromide (HBr). This makes it possible to obtain the aluminum-containing wiring material having high corrosion prevention performance.

Method of treating samples

A composite copper alloy bearing is provided with a backing metal layer, an intermediate layer of Cu--Pb alloy, and a surface layer of Al--Sn alloy. A thickness of the surface layer is not less than either larger value selected between 0.06 mm and a value 0.2 times the sum of thicknesses of the intermediate layer and the surface layer but not more than a value 0.5 times the sum of the thicknesses of the intermediate layer and the surface layer. With this construction, the surface layer exhibits excellent sliding properties while the intermediate layer maintains high conformability, and therefore there can be provided the composite copper alloy bearing which has high fatigue strength particularly even in a case where a shaft susceptible to misalignment is used.

Composite copper alloy bearing

A wear resisting aluminum alloy composite material consisting of 10 to 40% by volume of a hybrid compact and the balance substantially an aluminum alloy matrix, wherein the hybrid compact contains 85 to 95% by weight of an inorganic whisker which is 0.2 to 1.2 .mu.m in diameter and 10 to 30 .mu.m in length, and 5 to 15% by weight of an alumina fiber which is 100 to 300 .mu.m in length, and the aluminum alloy matrix contains 4 to 12% by weight of a silicon having an average grain size of not more than 5 .mu.m. The composite material offers good properties such as anti-seizure property and wear resistance. The composite material is suitable for sliding members. Aluminum borate whisker and potassium titanate whisker may be preferably used as the inorganic whisker.

Wear resisting aluminum alloy composite material

An aluminum alloy for sliding materials consists, by weight, of Si of not less than 8% but less than 15%, 1 to 5% Cu, 0.1 to 2% Mg, 1 to 6% Sn, and optionally 0.5 to 3% Pb, and the balance Al and incidental impurities. This aluminum alloy for sliding materials exhibits high toughness without affecting a sliding property, an anti-seizure property, a castability and a machinability.

Aluminum alloy for sliding materials

A tin-base white metal bearing alloy essentially consists of, by weight, more than 3% and up to 15% Sb, more than 2% and up to 10% Ni, more than 0.001% and up to 1% Cr, up to 9% Cu, and balance of Sn and incidental impurities. Since Ni increases the strength at high temperature and the melting point, heat resistance and fatigue resistance as a tin-base white metal bearing alloy are improved. In this case, the strength will be further improved by containing at least one element of Cd, Be, Co and Mn whose amount or total amount is more than 0.1% and up to 5% by weight.

In an aluminum base alloy bearing, the effect of reinforcement of an aluminum base bearing alloy layer by an intermediate bonding layer is enhanced, thereby enhancing a fatigue resistance of the aluminum base bearing alloy layer. The aluminum base alloy bearing comprises a back metal layer, the intermediate bonding layer, and the aluminum base bearing alloy layer. The hardness of the intermediate bonding layer is in the range of 25 to 60 in terms of Vickers hardness, and the thickness of the intermediate bonding layer is 0.5 to 0.9 times in the sum of both the thickness of the intermediate bonding layer and the thickness of the aluminum base bearing alloy layer. With this construction, the effect of reinforcement of the aluminum base bearing alloy layer by the intermediate bonding layer is enhanced, thereby enhancing the fatigue resistance.

Aluminum base alloy bearing having superior fatigue resistance

There is disclosed a novel aluminum alloy bearing which exhibits a more excellent fatigue resistance than conventional bearings even under such conditions of use as at a high temperature and under a high load. The aluminum alloy bearing has an aluminum bearing alloy layer containing, by weight, 1 to 10% Zn, 0.1 to 5% Cu, 0.05 to 3% Mg, 0.1 to 2% Mn, 0.1 to 5% Pb, 0.1 to 2% V, and 0.03 to 0.5% in total of Ti--B, and further may optionally contain not more than 8% Si, 0.05 to 0.5% Sr, and Ni, Co and Cr. The alloy may be bonded to a steel metal back sheet, and a surface layer may be formed on the surface of the bearing. By use of the composition of the alloy of the invention, the fatigue resistance of the aluminum alloy bearings has been improved, and such an improved bearing can fully achieve a bearing performance even under severe conditions of use as at high temperature and under a high load.

Aluminum alloy bearing

A sliding bearing has a back metal made of a copper alloy which has a high followability with respect to deformation of a light alloy housing, and with this construction, the sliding bearing is excellent in fretting resistance and migration resistance. The multi-layer sliding bearing for a light alloy housing includes an aluminum alloy bearing layer, and a back metal layer, the back metal layer being made of a copper alloy which has a thermal expansion coefficient of not less than 15.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C., a 0.2% yield strength of not less than 295 N/mm.sup.2 and a heat transfer coefficient of not less than 0.40 Cal/cm.cndot.sec.cndot..degree.C. A Pb-alloy overlay layer can be formed on the bearing layer. A bonding layer can be formed between the bearing layer and the back metal layer. A flash plating layer can be formed on an entire surface of the bearing. When a large interference is not obtained, or under sever conditions as when the temperatures of the bearing and the lubricating oil rise in a high-speed range of the internal combustion engine or as when the inertia force of the housing increases, an excellent bearing performance is achieved by the sliding bearing of the present invention.

Sliding bearing for light alloy housing

A multi-layer bearing having an Al--Sn bearing alloy layer which has high fatigue strength and good conformability with a mating member further comprising a backing steel plate and an intermediate bonding layer of another aluminum alloy. The Al--Sn alloy consists essentially of, by weight, 7 to 20% Sn and balance of Al and impurities, and has a hardness of Hv 50 to 80. The aluminum alloy of the intermediate bonding layer consists essentially of, by weight, at least one of up to 1.7% Mn, up to 1.2% Cu and up to 1.8% Mg, and balance of Al and impurities, and a hardness rate of the aluminum alloy of the intermediate bonding layer to the Al--Sn bearing alloy exceeds Hv 70% and is not greater than 90%.

Multi-layer slide bearing having Al-Sn alloy layer with high fatigue

Wear resistance, seizure resistance, durability and corrosion resistance of an Oldham ring made of an aluminum alloy engaging with a swivel scroll made of an aluminum alloy are improved. The Oldham ring comprises a substrate made of an Al--Si alloy which has a light weight and a high strength, a bond layer of a multiplex zinc base alloy containing Cu and Ni as a primary plating layer which is formed on the substrate, and an electroless Ni--P plating layer having a hardness of MHV550 which is formed on the outermost surface of the Oldham ring.
