A lens mounting plate to which a projection lens unit is fixed is brought into contact with a sliding base. The lens mounting plate is pressed against the sliding base by the urging of a coiled spring. The pressing force is set such that the position of the projection lens unit can be held and shifted. A cover is provided with a pipe-shaped projection so as to surround the projection lens unit with a clearance corresponding to the shifting width of the projection lens unit between the pipe-shaped projection and the projection lens unit. A user shifts the position of the projection lens unit with his or her fingers laid on the pipe-shaped projection and the projection lens unit.

Lens shift mechanism and projection type video display

A liquid crystal projector for projecting original images formed on a liquid crystal panel onto a screen comprises optical means 3 between the liquid crystal panel 2 and the screen 4. The optical means 3 has a first refracting portion comprising planar glass plates 3a, 3c having a predetermined angle of inclination with respect to the optical axis of the panel, and a second refracting portion comprising planar glass plates 3b, 3d having an angle of inclination different from that of the first refracting portion. The position where an image is formed by the first refracting portion on the screen is shifted from the image forming position for the second refracting portion by a small amount corresponding to the pitch of picture elements on the screen to form projected images of improved quality.

Liquid crystal projector

A cabinet (2) providing one projector unit has a side wall formed with a projecting portion (21) accommodating a projector (1) therein, and another side wall opposed to the side wall and formed with a recessed portion (22) shaped in conformity with the shape of the projecting portion (21). One or a plurality of reflecting mirrors (4), (41) are arranged within the cabinet (2) for flexing an optical path (9) extending from the projector (1) to a screen (3). A plurality of such cabinets (2) are assembled into a multiscreen projector apparatus by engaging the projecting portion (21) of each cabinet (2) in the recessed portion (22) of another cabinet (2) adjacent thereto.
