An apparatus has a plurality of types of plugs used for different purposes and a plurality of circuit board assemblies. Each of the plurality of the circuit board assemblies includes a circuit board having a plurality of wiring portions formed thereon, an electrical and electronic part mounted on the circuit board, and a plurality of sockets attached to the circuit board and connected to the electrical and electronic part via the plurality of wiring portions. The sockets included in all of the plurality of circuit board assemblies have the same shape and are configured to receive any of the plurality of types of plugs.

The present invention provides a socket for an element with an element electrode. The socket comprises a base shell, a cover shell and a contact member. The cover shell is engaged with the base shell so that the base shell and the cover shell define a cavity. Each of the base shell and the cover shell is made of a high thermal-conductive material. The contact member comprises an elastic member and a contact electrode provided on the elastic member and are designed and arranged so that the element is mountable on the contact member within the cavity with the element electrode connected to the contact electrode.

A heat transfer member which is capable of enhancing efficiency of heat dissipation, and a connector including the heat transfer member. On the surface of an elastic body arranged between an LED and a heat sink, a heat conduction metal thin film that transfers heat generated in the LED to the heat sink is formed. The member may also include an electrical conduction metal film, whereby the member may serve as both a heat transfer member and as an electrical connector.

An electrical connector is disclosed. Connection targets have edges, respectively, on which conductive portions are formed. The electrical connector serves to electrically connect the conductive portions of connection targets with the edges facing each other. The electrical connector comprises an electrode sheet, a press member and a connection keeper. The electrode sheet comprises an insulation sheet and an electrode pattern formed on the insulation sheet. The press member is made of elastic material distinct from the electrode sheet. The press member is arranged to press the electrode pattern against the conductive portions of the connection targets when the press member is compressed, so that the conductive portions of the connection targets are connected to each other by the electrode pattern. The connection keeper is configured to keep the connection between the conductive portions of the connection targets with the press member compressed.

Electrical connector

In a connector having a plurality of conductive contacts assembled to an insulator, each of the contacts has unique structure for electrically connecting a first and a second board to each other. The first board has a primary surface and a secondary surface opposed to each other. The second board has a principal surface facing the secondary surface with a space left therebetween. In the unique structure, a base portion is placed in the space and held by the insulator. A first elastic portion extends from the base portion to face a primary surface. A first contact portion is protruded from the first elastic portion to come in contact with one of electrode patterns arranged on the primary surface. A second elastic portion extends from the base portion. A second contact portion is protruded from the second elastic portion to come in contact with one of electrode patterns arranged on the principal surface.

Board-to-board connector capable of readily electrically connecting two parallel boards to each other

A connectable plate (2) is mounted on an upper surface of a horizontal portion (the uniform thickness portion) (1b) of a housing (1). A plurality of contacts (3) mounted on the housing come into contact with a pattern of the connectable plate. A clip (4) has a U-shaped cross-sectional configuration. A spacing of a resilient forked portion of the contacts (an opening width) is larger than the thickness of the connectable plate but smaller than the sum of the thickness of the connectable plate and the thickness of the uniform thickness portion. When the clip is mounted to the connectable plate and the housing, an insulating coating portion (4d) of the clip slides onto the upper surface of the connectable plate, and a connector-housing-side end portion (4b) of the clip presses against an inclined portion (1a) of the housing. Thus, the opening width of the clip becomes larger, so that the connector-housing-side end portion slides smoothly onto the lower surface of the uniform thickness portion. As a result, the clip holds the connectable plate and the housing, and does not cause damage to either the connectable plate or to the clip connector.

An LCD panel (45) has a plurality of terminal electrodes (45d) formed at a peripheral portion thereof. The LCD panel (45) is brought into contact with conductive contact elements (13) and fixed by fixing means (71) to be electrically connected to a circuit board (81). An insulator (11) has a first surface (11a) for mounting the peripheral portion of the LCD panel (45), and a second surface (11b) to be faced to the circuit board (11b). The contact elements (13) are fixedly mounted in the insulator (11) to be brought into contact with the terminal electrodes (45d), respectively, when the LCD panel (45) is disposed on the first surface (11a) of the insulator (11). The fixing means (71) clamps and fixedly holds the insulator (11) and the LCD panel (45) when the LCD panel (45) is disposed on the first surface (11a). The insulator (11) is combined with a header (100) to be mounted on the circuit board (81).
