A contact, above and below which two contact objects are present, comprises a first arm portion having a first contact portion at a tip end thereof, a first arcuate projection, a coupling portion, a second arcuate projection, and a second arm portion having a second contact portion at a tip end thereof. In the contact, the first arm portion and the coupling portion are connected to each other with the first arcuate projection therebetween to assume a substantially V-shaped configuration. The coupling portion and the second arm portion are connected to each other with the second arcuate projection therebetween to assume a substantially V-shaped configuration. The first arcuate projection is disposed below the first arm portion and outside an extension of the first arm portion. The second arcuate projection is disposed above the second arm portion and outside an extension n of the second arm portion.

Contact and IC socket using the same

A ZIF connector includes a flexible contact, a fixed housing receiving therein the contact, and a movable housing slidably received in the fixed housing for receiving a contact portion of a counterpart connector. The contact portion of the counterpart connector includes a bifurcate portion into which a contact portion of the contact is fittable. The contact portion of the contact extends along an attaching/detaching direction of the counterpart connector in the fixed housing, while the contact has a bent portion near a bottom wall of the fixed housing. The movable housing supports the contact portion of the contact along the foregoing attaching/detaching direction, while allowing deformation of the contact portion of the contact. Due to approaching of the counterpart connector for connection, the contact portion of the contact advances into the contact portion of the counterpart connector so that the contact is then pushed by the counterpart connector to move the bent portion thereof along the bottom wall of the fixed housing in a direction orthogonal to the foregoing attaching/detaching direction. Thus, the contact portion of the contact is deformed to abut under pressure against the contact portion of the counterpart connector at two positions.

ZIF connector capable of operating with small operation force

In a two-piece connector for use in electrical connector between two PCBs, a connector member has a pair of flexible printed circuits as two contact rows of a plurality of contact elements with opposite first and second ends being connected to one of PCBs and being brought into contact with contacts of a mating connector member, respectively. An elastic plate is fixed to the second end of each flexible printed circuit. The mating connector member has a projection and a pair of grooves into which the contacts are disposed to be exposed. Each groove loosely receives the second end of each flexible printed circuit when both connector member is mated, and the projection engages and urges each of the elastic plates to bring the second end of each flexible printed circuit into press contact with the contacts.

Two-piece electrical connector of ZIF type using flexible printed

For connecting a card type device to a counterpart connector, a connector is provided with an elastic film contact held to an inner insulator having a cam portion. The film contact has a first connection end portion and a second connection end portion opposite to the first connection end portion. The first connection end portion is electrically connected to the card type device. The second connection end portion is kept in a free state. A plate-like member has a first member end portion superposed to and fixed to the second connection end portion. A second member end portion of the plate-like member spaces from the elastic film contact and faces the cam portion. The plate-like member operates as a lever to make the second connection end portion be brought into press contact with the counterpart connector in accordance with an operation for connection.

Connector for connecting card type device

In an electric connector having a first-side and a second-side contact which are connected to different connection objects, respectively, the first-side contact is of an plate shape and elastically bendable in a thickness direction thereof. The second-side contact has a pair of contact points substantially fixed at predetermined positions which are different from to each other in a first direction. The contact points are directed opposite to each other in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The first-side contact is inserted between the contact points and becomes in press contact with the contact points with being elastically bent in the thickness direction.

Electrical connector of a turn contact type which is simple in shape

In a two-piece electrical connector comprising a connector member and a mating connector member for electrically connecting a first and a second PCBs, the connector member comprising a first insulator block and a second insulator block coupled to each other. A flexible contact member is mounted in the first and the second insulator blocks and has a connecting portion to be connected to the first PCB and a contact portion to be brought into contact with mating contact portions of the mating connector member. The contact portion is provided with a backup spring having a free end. When subjected to pressing force by a press wall portion, the free end produces contacting force to press the contact portion to the mating contact portions by lever action. When the second insulator block is pushed down, the free end is deformed under the pressing force by the press wall portion and moved, as well as an intermediate portion of the flexible contact member is compressed and deformed. The first and the second insulator blocks are provided with first and second rotary shaft members to which the intermediate portion of the flexible contact member is wrapped to be deformed.

For electrically connecting a conductor pattern (25) printed on a surface of a flexible insulator sheet (23) to a circuit board (13), an insulating resilient piece (33) is attached to the opposite surface of the flexible sheet and obliquely projects from said opposite surface. A connecting member (15) having a contact (17) to be electrically connected to the circuit board has an insulator block (16) having a receiving hole (18) for receiving the flexible sheet and the resilient piece together. The contact is exposed in the receiving hole so that the contact is brought into contact with the conductor pattern of the flexible sheet when a projecting portion of the resilient piece is pressed towards the flexible sheet received in the receiving hole by an actuating member (31, 39, 41). By the use of the connecting arrangement, a multi-row connector (11) is assembled which is for establishing electric connection to the connecting member as a paired connector. The multi-row connector comprises a first insulator block (19) for receiving the flexible sheets as flexible contact sheets in sheet receiving holes (21) and a second insulator block (27) having a sheet receiving groove (29). The insulating resilient pieces are fixed to bottom sheet ends of the flexible contact sheets. After inserted between free ends of the resilient pieces, the actuating member is turned around its axis to establish the electric connection.

An electrical connector having a cap rotatable by a link mechanism, there are a connector housing, a first link having a symmetrical structure of both sides of the connector housing and pivoted at the connector housing, a second link having a symmetrical structure of both sides of the connector housing and pivoted at the first link, a cap pivoted at the second link, a sealing member installed at circumference of the cap or a connector on the connector housing, and wherein at least one of the first link and the second link is made of a one piece member. The cap is fitted to a top of the connector housing, and covers the connector to lead into a waterproof state. When an operator pushes up a handle of the second link by his finger, the first link and the second link rotate. Then the cap takes off from the top of the connector housing, and so the connector is ready for electrical connection. Further, when the operator pushes down the handle of the second link by his finger, the first link and the second link rotate more. The cap fits to a bottom of the connector housing finally.

In a connector for use in connection between a pair of connection objects opposite to each other, each having a number of contact holes arranged in rows and columns in a contact matrix, a plurality of flat and elastic multi-contact members are used for connecting contacts in the contact holes of one connection object with contacts in the contact holes of the other connection object. Each of the multi-contact members comprises a flexible and flat insulator sheet and conductive layers formed on opposite surfaces of the sheet. At least one of the conductive layers are separated into a plurality of conductive strips corresponding to contact holes in one row of the contact matrix. The conductive strips are fitted into contact holes in the corresponding row of contact matrix at opposite ends of each of the multi-contact members. When the connection objects are relatively moved in the direction perpendicular to the first direction and the rows, the opposite ends of the conductive strips are brought into press contact with contact elements in the contact holes due to elastic deformation of the multi-contact member. One of the conductive layers on the opposite surfaces of the sheet can be an integral film overlying the corresponding surface. In that case, one of two contact elements in each of contact holes is used as ground contact to be brought into contact with the integral film.

Electrical connector having flat and elastic multi-contact members

In a connector for connecting a pair of connection objects (60) having electroconductive inner surfaces or sockets (63). A long pin contact (10) is made of an electroconductive elastic material. Opposite ends of the pin contact are brought into a press contact with the inner surfaces or sockets (63), with a resulting elastic deformation of a longitudinal intermediate portion of the pin contact. The connection objects are opposite to each other in a first direction (Y) and have a relative position changeable between a first and a second position in a second direction (X) which is perpendicular to the first direction. Before the connection is carried out, the opposite ends of the pin are inserted into opposed spaces, respectively. The opposite ends are loosely fitted in the spaces when the relative position is the first position. When the relative position is changed from the first position to the second position, each of the opposite ends is brought into a press contact in first and the second directions with each of two points.

Electrical connector having a plurality of contact pin springs

A top housing, which has formed therein arrays of first housing chambers and first pin insertion holes respectively communicating therewith, and a bottom housing, which has formed therein arrays of second housing chambers and second pin insertion holes respectively communicating therewith, are assembled together so that the corresponding first and second housing chambers intercommunicate. A socket contactor is housed across the corresponding first and second housing chambers. The top and bottom housings are held together by a frame so that they are slidable relative to each other. Terminal pins of an IC are inserted into the first housing chambers through the first pin insertion holes and pin conductors of a printed board are inserted into the second housing chambers through the second pin insertion holes. By sliding the top and bottom housings relative to each other, each socket contactor is bent, and by its spring force, the socket contactor is urged against the terminal pin and the pin conductor.

Connector

A socket for an IC, which is made up of a cover having an insulating protrusion and an insulating housing having a recess for receiving the protrusion. The cover includes a flat member which has made therethrough a plurality of arrays of pin insertion holes for insertion of pins of the IC or the like, and the insulating protrusion provided on the underside of the cover and extending along the arrays of pin insertion holes, guide grooves communicating with the pin insertion holes, respectively, being formed in side wall surfaces of the insulating protrusion. Contact pieces are held on side walls of the insulating housing.

Socket

An electrical connector having contact elements, for mounting a leadless circuit board to a mother board. Each contact element is provided with a projection laterally projecting therefrom which engages with the lower opening edge of a through-hole of the mother board to maintain the connector in contact with the surface of the mother board. Connector apertures are arranged to a zigzag pattern to form first and second rows, and the contact elements are inserted in the apertures of the first and second rows with reversed orientation.

Electrical connectors for leadless circuit boards

For electrically connecting a conductive terminal member (13) to an electric circuit board (12), an electrical connector includes a contact member (30) which comprises a terminal pin element (31) and a mating contact element (32) as individual parts. The terminal pin element is inserted into a through hole (14) and secured to the electric circuit board by soldering. The mating contact element is mated with the terminal pin element within an insulator housing (16) so that it is possible to correct position error of a contact portion (42) of the mating contact element. The conductive terminal member is inserted into the insulator housing and is then moved by a driving member (17) which is slidable along the insulator housing. Therefore, the conductive terminal member is brought into contact with a contract portion of the mating contact element. As a result, electrical connection is reliably made between the terminal member and an electrical circuit on the electric circuit board.
