Disclosed is a solid electrolytic capacitor having a roll-form capacitor element. The capacitor element has a coated structure comprising a valve metal positive electrode substrate having a dielectric oxide layer on the surface thereof, a semiconductor layer formed on the dielectric oxide layer and an electroconductive layer formed on the semiconductor layer.

Disclosed is a solid electrolytic capacitor comprising a plurality of superposed etched foils of a valve metal having an oxide film surface layer, which are connected with a positive electrode terminal, a semiconductor layer formed on the oxide film layer, an electroconductive layer formed on the semiconductor layer, and a negative electrode terminal common to the respective foils, which is formed on the electroconductive layer. Also disclosed is a polar type solid electrolytic capacitor in which first foils connected with a negative electrode terminal and second foils of a valve metal each having an oxide film surface layer connected with a positive electrode terminal are alternately superposed one upon the other, and a semiconductor layer is formed among the first foils and the second foils. A bipolar type solid electrolytic capacitor is also disclosed in which first valve metal foils each having an oxide film surface layer and connected with one lead terminal, and second valve metal foils each having an oxide film surface layer and connected with the other lead terminal are alternately superposed one upon the other and a semiconductor layer is formed among the first foils and the second foils.

Disclosed is a solid electrolyte capacitor comprising a positive electrode substrate composed of a metal having a valve action, and a dielectric oxide film, a semiconductor layer and an electroconductive layer, which are formed in order on the positive electrode substrate, wherein the electroconductive layer is a layer of a paste composed mainly of a metal oxide powder, a metal powder and an optional metal salt powder. This capacitor has a good and durable stability at a high temperature. In the process for the preparation of this capacitor, preferably the semiconductor layer formed on the dielectric oxide film is subjected to ultrasonic washing.

The coefficient of thermal conductivity of any sample can be measured without any pre-processing to the sample by putting an electric heater and a thermo-electric couple between a block made of reference material whose coefficient of thermal conductivity is known and the sample, flowing electric current in said heater, measuring the temperature of said heater with said thermo-couple, and calculating the coefficient of thermal conductivity of the sample according to the measured data. The present inventors introduce herein a novel equation for that calculation.
