The disclosure improves the quality of seams in sewing using a sewing machine, and includes: a holder holding fabric; a driver being detachable from a bed of a sewing machine and driving the holder along an upper surface of the bed; a position detector detecting a position of a sewing needle of the sewing machine in an up-down direction; and a controller controlling driving of the holder, which is performed by the driver, based on a detection result of the position detector.

A pickup cable for a stringed instrument can switch between the output of the direct vibrational sound of strings and the output of the sound from the stringed instrument body generated by the vibrations of the strings and can also simultaneously output both the sound components. The pickup cable for a stringed instrument includes an input terminal to be inserted in a jack of the stringed instrument; a microphone to collect and convert sound of an internal space of the stringed instrument into collected-sound electrical signals; and an output terminal to output the collected-sound electrical signals. The microphone is incorporated in the input terminal.

A method for manufacturing a molded article by melting and molding a granule of a polycarbonate resin at a temperature of 280 to 380&#xb0; C., wherein the granule satisfies condition (a): when 100 parts by weight of the granule is cleaned with 100 parts by weight of a 1N nitric acid aqueous solution, the amount of an Fe compound eluted into the cleaning liquid of the 1N nitric acid aqueous solution is 1 to 100 ppb in terms of an Fe atom based on the granule. The molded article exhibits excellent color and transparency.

A hair treatment comprising in dissolved form three essential components including at least one decomposition derivative of keratin, a cationic polymer, and at least one compound selected from organic and inorganic salts and urea having a solubility in water of over 1 g/100 g of water at 25.degree. C. The hair treatment within the scope of the invention covers various types of treatments such as hair setting lotion, hair styling lotion, cutting lotion, brushing lotion and the like.

Hair cosmetic compositions comprise (A) an extract obtained by polar solvent extraction of a plant, preferable ones of which are birch, rosemary and hamamelis, and (B) a polypeptide compound including keratin, keratin derivative, silk and hydrolysate of silk. Disclosed herein is a hair treatment which comprises the following two ingredients (A) and (B): (A) polyphenol compound . . . 0.001-5.0 wt % (B) chelating agent . . . 0.01-5.0 wt %. Also disclosed a hair treatment which comprises, in addition to the ingredients (A) and (B), the third ingredient (C): (C) At least one decomposition derivative of keratin material selected from the group consisting of (1) hydrolysates of keratin material, (2) alkali salts of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin material, and (3) alkali salts of derivatives at the thiol groups of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material . . . 0.05-10.0 wt %. The hair treatment according to this invention can prevent proteins from eluting from hair and restore appropriate degrees of resiliency and flexibility of the hair which have once been lost by treatments for beauty care.

A hair rinse composition comprising one or more quaternary ammonium salts, a silicone derivative and a polyethylene glycol is disclosed. The ammonium salts are represented by ##STR1## wherein one or two of the R's are certain higher alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups and the rest are certain lower alkyl, lower hydroxylalkyl, benzyl or polyoxyethylene groups, and X is a halogen atom or alkylsulfuric group. The hair rinse composition according to this invention has superior rinsing effects, i.e., effectiveness to impart adequate softness, smoothness and antistatic property to hair.

A hair rinse composition is described which comprises a defined amount of at least one decomposition derivative of keratin material such as animal hair, human hair, nail, feather, hoof and the like. The derivatives are, for example, salts of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin material or salts of derivatives at thiol groups of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material. Surface active agents other than cationic surface active agents may be further contained.

A cosmetic composition comprising as an essential component a glycolipid ester represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; R.sub.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 11 to 15 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a methyl group, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 12 to 16 carbon atoms when R.sub.1 is a hydrocarbon atom; and R.sub.3 represents a saturated or unsaturated hydrogen group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms is effective for skin and hair treatment.
