It is an object to provide a process for treating timber, comprising the first step of immersing a high moisture content timber in an organic solvent compatible with water so as to remove water in the timber and make the organic solvent penetrate into the timber, and the second step of immersing the timber in a solution comprising a wood preservative and a high boiling point organic solvent, the solution being compatible with the organic solvent, so as to make the high boiling point organic solvent and the wood preservative penetrate into the timber, wherein timber is treated in a short period of time without a step of drying a high moisture content timber, and at the same time, cracking by drying at the step of drying a high moisture content timber is inhibited.

Process for treating timber

There are provided with a novel N-substituted-3-halopropiolamide compound, a method of producing the compound, and a composition for controlling noxious organisms containing the compound. The present compound exhibits superior antimicrobial and antifungal effects. Pest control agents containing the compound can advantageously be used for wide applications.

Safe and quite active termiticidal compositions for controlling termites comprising an effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, a C.sub.1-6 alkyl-carbonyl group, or C.sub.1-6 alkoxy-carbonyl group; or a salt thereof and an an agrochemically acceptable vehicle, are provided. Methods for eradicating termites are also provided. The termiticidal composition exhibits an excellent activity in eradicating termites.

Method for treatment of termite

A wood preservative composition which comprises a wood preservative in an amount of 0.01-10% by weight and a diphenylalkane compound represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are independently hydrogen or an alkyl, in an amount of not less than 1% by weight and in an amount of 1-1000 parts by weight in relation to one part by weight of the wood preservative.
