In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise a intermediary server operative to send a page-scoped identifier to a front-end application, the front-end application associated with an entity, the page-scoped identifier identifying a user account with a messaging system in relation to a representation for the entity within the messaging system; receive a user information request from a contact application at the intermediary server, the contact application associated with the representation for the entity within the messaging system, the user information request for the page-scoped identifier; determine a user access consent setting for the page-scoped identifier for the user account; and send a user information data package to the contact application in response to the user information request when the user access consent setting for the page-scoped identifier indicates user consent. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for messaging agent messaging interaction are described. In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise a commerce intermediary server operative to receive a user interface selection of a user-to-commerce message thread on a client device, the user-to-commerce message thread associated with a commerce entity with a messaging system; display a user-to-commerce message thread interface for the user-to-commerce message thread; receive a user-to-commerce message via the user-to-commerce message thread interface for the user-to-commerce message thread; and send the user-to-commerce message to the commerce entity via the messaging system. Techniques for messaging agent messaging interactions

Various embodiments include a conversation engine for facilitating a conversation between member accounts (e.g., personal accounts) and social network entities (e.g., corporate accounts) in a social networking system. The conversation engine can enable interactions between a member account and a social network entity via a messaging application when an end-user device associated with the member account is in proximity to a physical establishment associated with the social network entity. The end-user device can scan for available access points and determine its location based on the wireless source identifier(s) of the available access points. The end-user device and/or the social networking system can compare the wireless source identifier(s) to a set of known wireless source identifiers to determine the end-user device's location. Messages can be generated by the conversation engine that include content that is generated based at least in part on the location of the end-user device.

By training the chatbot to simulate such conversations, the disclosed systems and methods create a chatbot that can immediately respond to a user's inquiries concerning the received digital advertisement and tailor automated exchanges that further the objectives of an advertiser or merchant associated with the received digital advertisement.

A hierarchical category system for organizing and displaying electronic advertisements is disclosed. Each electronic advertisement is assigned one or more categories from a hierarchical categorization system. Similarly, each available advertisement placement location is also provided with a category from the hierarchical categorization, system. Then, when displaying advertisements, the system attempts to locate advertisements that have matching categorizations. When no matching advertisement with an exact matching categorization can be found, the system will attempt to locate an advertisement from a more specific (child) category that is a sub category of the current category. However, the advertisement from the more specific (child) category must specify the broader category within its own allowable fall-back path.
