A heat exchanger has a first inlet in fluid communication with a tank that contains a first chemical solution of a known concentration, and a second inlet in fluid communication with a conduit. The conduit is in fluid communication with a process tool and conveys a second chemical solution from the process tool to the second inlet. The heat exchanger receives a quantity of the first chemical solution via the first inlet and a quantity of the second chemical solution via the second inlet, and adjusts a temperature of the received quantity of the first chemical solution to bring the temperature of the received quantity of the first chemical solution toward a temperature of the received quantity of the second chemical solution. The temperature-adjusted first chemical solution can be selectively provided to an analytic flow cell for verification and/or calibration of the flow cell.

Systems and methods for verification and calibration using known reference chemical solutions

A flow cell analyzes a fluid sample. A flow cell body contains a reference material and includes at least one hollow chamber to contain the fluid sample. Opposing surfaces of the flow cell body each have at least one transparent portion thereof. An optical path for light traversing through the flow cell body is defined in part by the transparent portions. A switching mechanism adjusts the amount of the reference material in the optical path to effect switching of the flow cell between a reference measurement state and a fluid sample measurement state. The reference measurement state corresponds to a first light intensity measurement and the fluid sample measurement state corresponds to a second light intensity measurement.

Flow cell and optical system for analyzing fluid

Apparatuses and methods for accurately measuring the reflectivity of a target surface, under conditions where the distance between a measuring probe and the target surface is not fixed. At least two measurements of the target reflectivity are taken under different conditions, and then these two or more measurements are combined in order to calculate the target reflectivity in a way which is independent of the probe-to-target distance. In particular, the different conditions are such that each measurement samples radiation reflected from the target surface at a different distribution of angles. The apparatus can also be used to accurately measure the distance between the probe measurement head and a target surface.
