The present invention is directed toward a tamper evident informational article such as a temporary vehicle registration which may be made of paper or paperboard. The informational article has a zone for inserting information and a pattern within said zone which will resist effective counterfeiting. A transparent tape which preferably has a silicone resin coating which contains a wax is adhesively secured over information contained within the zone.

Informational article and an associated method

The present invention is directed toward a tamper evident informational article such as a temporary vehicle registration which may be made of paper or paperboard. The informational article includes a substrate having a zone for inserting information and a refractive image disposed within the zone. A covering is secured to at least a portion of the zone. In that way, efforts to remove the covering from the substrate will result in removal of a portion of the refractive image.

Methods of creating tamper resistant informational articles and related products are disclosed. In one embodiment, a lens has a preformed transparent hologram, metallized portions are provided and may be altered through selective application of heat to predetermined parts thereof to create information which may be fixed or variable. Printing may be provided on the hologram before metallizing. A base portion underlies the metallized layer. In yet another embodiment of the invention, an opaque base portion has a hologram formed in the upper surface thereof with portions of the hologram being made readily visible by partial metallization covering only portions of the hologram with or without information provided as by printing overlying or underlying portions of the metallized sector or both. A transparent overlying lens is secured in overlying relationship. Metallizing may be such as to permit viewing underlying hologram portions or information or not. A corresponding method is provided.

Methods of creating a tamper resistant informational article

A method of protecting an informational article including providing an informational article substrate having a zone for inserting variable information and a refractive image disposed within the zone, inserting the information in the zone so that at least a portion of the information is over the image, and securing a transparent tape having a write-resistant exposed surface over the information. The image resist photocopy duplication of the article and the write-resistant exposed surface resist alteration of the information.

Tamper evident and counterfeit resisting informational article and associated method

A vehicular validation tab has an outer film provided with an outer surface and an inner surface. Adhesive enhancing tie coat means are secured to the inner surface in some, but not all portions thereof. A layer of adhesive is secured to an inner surface of the outer film with identifying information interposed therebetween. A strippable film may be secured over the adhesive which may be pressure-sensitive adhesive and a write-resistant material may be secured to the outer surface of the outer film. Portions of the inner surface of the outer film not having the tie coat are provided with a release material to provide for differential bonding of the identifying information. The tie coat and release coat portions facilitate destruction of portions of the identifying material when the outer film is separated from the adhesive. The bond between the outer film tie coat portions and the adhesive is stronger than the bond between the adhesive and the license plate or other substrate, and the bond between the release coat portions and the adhesive is less than the bond between the adhesive and the license plate or other substrate. As a result, an effort to remove the vehicular validation tab will result in fracturing of the identifying material. The outer film is preferably transparent to facilitate viewing of the identifying material. The adhesive layer is also preferably transparent. In another embodiment the tab is securable to the inside of the window by an adhesive upper layer so as to be viewable therethrough.

Tamper resistant vehicular validation tab and associated method

A vehicular validation tab has an outer film provided with an outer surface and an inner surface. Adhesive enhancing tie coat means are secured to the inner surface in some but not all portions thereof. A layer of adhesive is secured to an inner surface of the outer film with identifying information interposed therebetween. A stripable film may be secured over the adhesive which may be pressure-sensitive adhesive and a write-resistant material may be secured to the outer surface of the outer film. Portions of the inner surface of the outer film not having the tie coat are provided with a release material to provide for differential bonding of the identifying information. The tie coat and release coat portions facilitate destruction of portions of the identifying material when the outer film is separated from the adhesive. The bond between the outer film tie coat portions and the adhesive is stronger than the bond between the adhesive and the license plate or other substrate, and the bond between the release coat portions and the adhesive is less than the bond between the adhesive and the license plate or other substrate. As a result, an effort to remove the vehicular validation tab will result in fracturing of the identifying material. The outer film is preferably transparent to facilitate viewing of the identifying material. The adhesive layer is also preferably transparent.

The present invention is directed toward a tamper evident informational article such as a temporary vehicle registration which may be made of paper or paperboard. The informational article has a zone for inserting information and a pattern within said zone which will resist effective counterfeiting. A transparent tape which preferably has a silicone resin coating which contains a wax is adhesively secured over information contained within the zone. In other embodiments, an alteration resistant article contains variable data and includes an outer film having an upper surface and a lower surface with an adhesive secured to the lower surface. A hologram for receiving at least a portion of the variable data on the upper surface is secured to the outer film lower surface and, in one embodiment, the hologram has portions which have release properties and portions which have greater adhesive bonding properties than the release containing portions. These respective portions may be established by providing a release material on certain portions of the upper surface of the hologram and providing adhesive enhancing materials on other portions of the hologram upper surface. The hologram may be embossed and have a metallized upper surface. A plurality of relatively small hologram particles may be provided in the outer layer and/or the adhesive layer. The hologram is secured to a substrate which, in one embodiment, has an upper surface printed with pattern means which are printed to a lesser depth than the variable data. In another embodiment, the hologram is provided as a unit with the outer film and overlies the variable data. Associated methods are provided. The invention may be employed in vehicle temporary registration permits, as well as in other uses.

Preferably, each of the stacked cones must have a lesser characteristic of thermal change than the cone next most proximate to the base cone.

A method of protecting an informational article, on which variable information is inserted, from photocopy duplication and alteration. The method comprises providing an informational article substrate having a zone for inserting the variable information and a refractive image disposed within the zone. The variable information is inserted in the zone, and transparent tape is secured over the variable information. The transparent tape has a write-resistant exposed surface. The refractive image will resist photocopy duplication of the variable information article, and the write-resistant exposed surface will resist alteration of the inserted variable information.

Method of making tamper evident and counterfeit resisting informational

The hazardous or toxic waste material storage apparatus includes a flexible inner container for receiving the hazardous waste material or toxic waste material with the inner container having at least one zone of expansion which is substantially more expandable than other portions of the inner container. The inner container which holds the hazardous or toxic waste material is sealed and disposed within an outer container which is preferably composed of a flexible material. The zones of expansion may preferably be provided in the inner container by a plurality of vertically extending pleats or horizontally extending pleats, or both. The inner container preferably occupies less than the full volume of the outer container so as to permit relative movement therebetween. A sealing disc may function as a closure for the outer container and may be mechanically engaged with portions of the outer container to retain the same in position. In one embodiment, an inflatable member is disposed within the outer container so as to reduce the amount of unoccupied space within the outer container. An associated method is provided.

Hazardous or toxic waste material storage apparatus and associated method

A method of applying a tamper evident label to a package including the steps of depositing a liquid resin on a carrier tape and then treating the liquid resin to produce a label having an adhesive portion. The label is separated from the carrier tape and the adhesive portion is secured to the package. The label is then cured to create a tamper evident label on the package. An associated apparatus is also provided.

A resilient closure snap fit onto a container having an end wall provided with a plurality of transverse grooves. A resin is deposited on the top surface of the end wall and into the grooves. If the closure is removed from the container, the top layer of resin and a portion of the resin in the grooves will fracture, thus indicating to the consumer that tampering with the container has occurred. In another embodiment, the closure comprises a rotatable portion and a fixed portion. The rotatable and fixed portion have grooves which are filled with a resin. When the rotatable portion is pivoted away from the fixed portion to open the container, a portion of the resin fractures, thus indicating tampering with the container. In another embodiment, the tamper evident closure comprises a closure body having an end wall and a skirt depending from the end wall and a closure lid movably secured to the closure body. The end wall and the closure lid define an upwardly open recess. A cured brittle layer is disposed in the upwardly open recess such that a portion of the layer contacts the end wall and another portion of the layer contacts the closure lid, whereby relative movement of the closure lid away from the end wall will cause a readily visible irreversible fracture of the layer and separation of at least one piece of the layer from the closure lid and the end wall. An associated method is also provided.
