A display device including a substrate, a gate driver disposed on the substrate and including a plurality of stages, a clock signal line disposed on the substrate, and transmitting a clock signal to at least one of the stages, a transistor disposed on the substrate, and a light blocking layer disposed between the substrate and the transistor and overlapping the transistor. The clock signal line includes a first conductive line and a second conductive line overlapping the first conductive line, and the first conductive line is disposed in the same layer as the light blocking layer.

Display device and manufacturing method thereof

Deterioration of image quality in a display device due to kickback voltages may be reduced or prevented by varying parasite capacitance, the size of the semiconductor layer, and/or storage capacitance in each of thin film transistors for the pixels in the display. Various embodiments of display devices capable of reducing or preventing kickback voltages are disclosed.

A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including liquid crystal molecules, a gate line positioned on the first substrate, a data line positioned on the first substrate and crossing the gate line, a first thin film transistor and a second thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line, a third thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the second thin film transistor, a reference voltage line connected to the third thin film transistor, and a pixel electrode including a first subpixel electrode connected to the first thin film transistor and a second subpixel electrode connected to the second thin film transistor.

Liquid crystal display

A display substrate includes a gate line, a data line, a pixel electrode, a storage line, a dual transistor, a connection transistor, a voltage-decreasing electrode, a first contact electrode and a second contact electrode. The voltage-decreasing electrode is disposed on the storage line. The voltage-decreasing electrode is connected to a connection drain electrode of the connection transistor. The first contact electrode overlaps with the first pixel part and is electrically connected to the first pixel part. The first contact electrode is connected to a first drain electrode of the dual transistor and a connection source electrode of the connection transistor. The second contact electrode overlaps with the second pixel part and is electrically connected to the second pixel part. The second contact electrode is connected to a second drain electrode of the dual transistor. Therefore, the aperture ratio of the display device may be increased.

A liquid crystal display according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a first substrate; a plurality of color filters formed on the first substrate and arranged in a matrix with an island shape; a plurality of pixel electrodes formed on the color filters; and a capacitor disposed between neighboring color filters in a column direction among the color filters, wherein two terminals forming the capacitor are disposed at a portion outside a position overlapping the color filters.

A liquid crystal display ('LCD') has first, second, and third pixels adjacent to one another in a column direction. The LCD includes a first gate line connected to each of the second and third pixels in common, a capacitance electrode line connected to each of the first and second pixels in common, a first data line connected to the second pixel, and a second data line connected to the first and third pixels.

Liquid crystal display and method thereof

A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixels. Each pixel includes a first sub-pixel that is charged with a data signal corresponding to an input gray-scale, in response to a gate signal, and a second sub-pixel that is charged with the data signal in response to the gate signal. A boost capacitor is disposed between the first and second sub-pixels. The boost capacitor increases the voltage of the signal charged in the first sub-pixel and decreases the voltage of the signal charged in the second sub-pixel. Each pixel further includes an initializing device to initialize a first electrode of the boost capacitor and a switching device to change an electric potential of the first electrode of the boost capacitor.

A photomask includes; a source electrode pattern including; a first electrode portion which extends in a first direction, a second electrode portion which extends in the first direction and is substantially parallel to the first electrode portion, and a third electrode portion which extends from a first end of the first electrode portion to a first end of the second electrode portion and is rounded with a first curvature, a drain electrode pattern which extends in the first direction and is disposed between the first electrode portion and the second electrode portion, wherein an end of the drain electrode pattern is rounded to correspond to the third electrode portion; and a channel region pattern which is disposed between the source electrode pattern and the drain electrode pattern, wherein a center location of the first curvature and a center location of the rounded portion of the end of the drain electrode pattern are the same.

A display device includes a first display panel facing a second display panel with a liquid crystal layer between them. The first display panel has a first gate line, a second gate line spaced apart from the first gate line, a first and second storage lines both spaced apart from the first gate line, first and second switching elements controlled by a first gate signal applied through the first gate line, a first sub-pixel electrode connected to the first switching element, a second sub-pixel electrode connected to the second switching element, a third switching element controlled by a second gate signal applied through the second gate line, and a coupling electrode connected to the third switching element and having a portion overlapping the second storage line. Different voltages are applied to the first storage line and the second storage line.

A liquid crystal display includes a substrate including a longer first side and a shorter second side, a plurality of gate lines disposed on the substrate, a plurality of data lines disposed on the substrate perpendicular to and insulated from the gate lines, and a plurality of pixel electrodes, each pixel electrode electrically connected to a data line by a switching element, wherein a number of the gate lines is about half of a number of the pixel electrodes, and the data lines extend in a direction which is substantially parallel to a direction of the first side.

Pixel array layout of a liquid crystal display

In an array substrate capable of improving the quality of displayed images and a method for manufacturing the array substrate, the array substrate includes a base substrate, a first conductive pattern including a gate line and a first light-blocking pattern, a semiconductor layer overlapping the light-blocking pattern, a second conductive pattern including a data line and a storage line overlapping the first light-blocking pattern, and a pixel electrode overlapping the storage line to form a storage capacitor. The first conductive pattern may further include a second light-blocking pattern overlapping the semiconductor layer which is formed under the data line. The first and second light-blocking patterns block light proceeding toward the semiconductor layer formed under the storage line and under the data line, respectively, so that the semiconductor layer may be prevented from being excited by light energy.

Array substrate and method for manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display includes a plurality of data lines and a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, wherein the plurality of pixels include a first pixel and a second pixel, and each of the first pixel and the second pixel includes a first subpixel electrode and a second subpixel electrode, a first switching element, a second switching element, a third switching element, and a voltage-changing capacitor, wherein a first source electrode on the first switching element and a second source electrode on the second switching element from the first pixel are connected to a data line, the first source electrode and the second source electrode of the second pixel are disconnected from the plurality of data lines, and the two terminals of the voltage-changing capacitor of the second pixel are shorted to each other.
