An imaging apparatus () includes an interface () and a processor (). The interface is configured to receive a sequence of images of an object () acquired at respective acquisition times, the object is labeled with fluorescent emitters. The images depict intensity fluctuations of emitters on an acquisition grid, and the intensity fluctuations being uncorrelated among the emitters and during an overall time over which the images in the sequence are acquired. The a processor is configured to calculate a temporal correlation function of the intensity fluctuations over the sequence of images, and to estimate locations of the emitters on a super-resolution grid having a higher resolution than the acquisition grid, by applying to the temporal correlation function a recovery process in which the locations on the super-resolution grid are assumed to be sparse or compressible in a predefined domain. The recovery process includes a sparse-recovery process or a regularized process.

Sparsity-based super-resolution correlation microscopy

A method includes receiving a signal, which includes reflections of multiple pulses from one or more targets (). A Doppler focusing function, in which the reflections of the multiple pulses from each target accumulate in-phase to produce a respective peak associated with a respective delay and a respective Doppler frequency of the target, is evaluated based on the received signal. Respective delays and Doppler frequencies of the targets are estimated based on the Doppler focusing function.

A method includes receiving from multiple transducers respective signals including reflections of a transmitted signal from a target. An image of the target is produced irrespective of sparsity of the received signals, by computing transducer-specific frequency-domain coefficients for each of the received signals, deriving, from the transducer-specific frequency-domain coefficients, beamforming frequency-domain coefficients of a beamformed signal in which the reflections received from a selected direction relative to the transducers are emphasized, and reconstructing the image of the target at the selected direction based on the beamforming frequency-domain coefficients.

A method for reconstructing high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) slices, including: receiving a thick MRI slice of bodily tissue acquired using a single MRI scan, wherein the thick slice has a high SNR; receiving two thin MRI slices of the bodily tissue acquired using a single MRI scan, wherein each of the two thin MRI slices has a low SNR; and reconstructing multiple high SNR thin slices of the bodily tissue using the thick slice and the two thin slices.

Exploiting similarity in adjacent slices for compressed sensing MRI

In one respect, there is provided a method for analog-to-digital conversion. The method may include: receiving, at an analog-to-digital converter, an analog signal; determining, based on a total distortion caused by at least a sampler and an encoder, a sampling rate below the Nyquist rate and/or a quantization rate; and converting, by the analog-to-digital converter, the received analog signal to a digital signal by at least sampling at the determined sampling rate, when operation at the determined sampling rate does not worsen the total distortion. Related systems and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.

Analog-to-digital compression

A method and system are presented for reconstructing an input field where the latter is sensed by a measurement system. The method comprises: providing measured data corresponding to output field of said measurement system; providing data about sparsity of the input field, and data about effective response function of the measurement system; and processing the measured data based on said known data, the processing comprising: determining a sparse vector as a function of said measured data, said data about the sparsity of the input field, and said data about the effective response function; and using the sparse vector for reconstructing the input information. The invention allows for sub-wavelength resolution in imaging applications, and allows for detection of very short pulses by slow detectors in some other applications.

Method and system for super-resolution signal reconstruction

A method includes accepting an analog input signal that includes a sequence of pulses. The analog input signal is filtered so as to produce a filter output, using a filter whose time-domain response is confined to a finite time period and whose frequency-domain response is non-zero at a finite set of integer multiples of a frequency shift &#x394;&#x3c9;, and is zero at all other integer multiples of &#x394;&#x3c9;. The filter output is sampled so as to produce digital samples. Respective amplitudes and time positions of the pulses in the sequence are calculated based on the digital samples.

Low-rate sampling of pulse streams

Systems, methods and devices are implemented for optical imaging. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, an optical imaging apparatus utilizes a laser-based coherent light source, and an optical device to pass grated light along an illumination direction from the laser-based coherent light source toward an object. Additionally, an illumination modulator is provided for changing angles at which the light, moving toward the object plane, reaches the object plane, and the light reaches the object plane at different angles. Further, the apparatus can include circuitry to process image-based data in response to and based on the light reaching the object plane at different angles for a user-viewable image of an object in proximity of the object plane.

Grating-enhanced optical imaging

A method for signal processing includes accepting an analog signal, which consists of a sequence of pulses confined to a finite time interval. The analog signal is sampled at a sampling rate that is lower than a Nyquist rate of the analog signal and with samples taken at sample times that are independent of respective pulse shapes of the pulses and respective time positions of the pulses in the time interval. The sampled analog signal is processed.

Sub-Nyquist sampling of short pulses

A method includes accepting an analog input signal including a sequence of pulses of a given pulse shape. The analog input signal is distributed to multiple processing channels () operating in parallel. The analog input signal is sampled by performing, in each of the multiple processing channels, the operations of: mixing the analog input signal with a different, respective modulating waveform to produce a mixed signal; filtering the mixed signal; and digitizing the filtered mixed signal to produce a respective digital channel output.

Multi-channel sampling of pulse streams at the rate of innovation

A method for signal processing includes distributing an analog input signal to a plurality of processing channels. In each processing channel, the input signal is mixed with a respective periodic waveform including multiple spectral lines, so as to produce a respective baseband signal in which multiple spectral slices of the input signal are superimposed on one another. The baseband signal produced in each of the processing channels is digitized, to produce a set of digital sample sequences that represent the input signal.

Efficient sampling and reconstruction of sparse multi-band signals

A method of reproducing an original analog signal modified by a distortion and sampled. The distortion may be linear or nonlinear, and the samples may be either ideal or non-ideal. The method determines a stationary point of a cost function based on an error vector. The method iteratively computes approximated analog signals until the approximated analog signals converge to the original analog signal. The method may utilize Fr?chet derivatives and Moore-Penrose pseudo inverse transformations in order to iteratively compute the original analog signal. An apparatus performing said method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for reconstructing digitized distorted signals

A timing skew estimation system is disclosed that includes a plurality of interleaved analog-to-digital converter circuits (ADCs), a timing mismatch estimation unit, and a correction unit. The timing mismatch estimation unit calculates a correlation between each of the plurality of ADCs. Then the timing mismatch estimation unit calculates a cost function for each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC. The timing mismatch estimation unit further calculates a gradient for each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC. The timing mismatch estimation unit also continually calculates the timing skew of each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC, as the sum of an immediately previous estimate of the timing skew of each ADC, except the reference ADC, and a product of a function of the gradient of each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC, and a step size, The correction unit continually corrects the output of each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC, based on the estimates of the timing skew of each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC. Eventually, the timing skew estimation system determines a converged estimate of the timing skew of each of the plurality of ADCs, except the reference ADC. A method of estimating timing skew and timing skew estimation circuitry are also disclosed.
