A system and method can support transaction processing in a transactional environment. A transactional system operates to route a request to a transactional server, wherein the transactional server is connected to a resource manager (RM) instance. Furthermore, the transactional system can assign an affinity context to the transactional server, wherein the affinity context indicates the RM instance that the transactional server is associated with, and the transactional system can route one or more subsequent requests that are related to the request to the transactional server based on the affinity context.

System and method for supporting transaction affinity based on resource manager (RM) instance awareness in a transactional environment

A system and method can support an adaptive self-tuning locking mechanism in a transactional middleware machine environment. The system allows each process in a plurality of processes to perform one or more test-and-set (TAS) operations in order to obtain a lock for data in a shared memory. Then, the system can obtain a spin failed rate for a current tuning period, wherein a spin failure happens when a process fails to obtain the lock after performing a maximum number of rounds of TAS operations that are allowed. Furthermore, the system can adaptively configuring a spin count for a next tuning period based on the obtained spin failure rate, wherein the spin count specifies the maximum number of rounds of TAS operations that are allowed for the next tuning period.

System and method for supporting an adaptive self-tuning locking mechanism in a transactional middleware machine environment

A flexible transactional data structure can be used to store message header in a transactional middleware machine environment. The flexible transactional data structure can have dynamic numbers of fields and is accessible via specified IDs. The message header can include a first data structure that stores address information for accessing a client using a first message queue, and a second data structure that stores address information for accessing a client using a second message queue. The first type of server operates to use only the first data structure to obtain the address information for accessing the client using the first message queue. The second type of server operates to obtain a key from the first data structure first, and then use the key to obtain from the second data structure the address information for accessing the client using the second message queue.

System and method for supporting a complex message header in a transactional middleware machine environment

A system and method can support intra-node communication based on a shared memory queue. The shared memory queue can be associated with a shared memory, to which one or more communication peers are attached. The shared memory queue operates to allocate one or more message buffers in the shared memory that contains a first message from a sender to a receiver, and can send the first message to the receiver by linking the one or more message buffers with another message queue. Optionally, a second message buffer may be created, and the message can be sent to the receiver by copying the message to the second message buffer and linking it with another message queue. Additionally, the shared memory queue operates to receive a second message from another sender by delinking one or more message buffers associated with said second message.

System and method for supporting intra-node communication based on a shared memory queue

A system and method can support transaction processing in a transactional environment. A transactional server operates to receive resource manager (RM) instance information from a data source that is associated with one or more RM instances, wherein the received instance information allows the transactional server to be aware of which RM instance that the transactional server is currently connected to. Furthermore, the transactional server operates to save the received instance information into one or more tables that are associated with the transactional server. Then, the transactional server can process a global transaction based on the instance information saved in the one or more tables.

System and method for supporting resource manager (RM) instance awareness in a transactional environment

A system and method can support transaction processing in a transactional environment. A coordinator for a global transaction operates to propagate a common transaction identifier and information for a resource manager instance to one or more participants of the global transaction in the transactional environment. The coordinator allows said one or more participants, which share resource manager instance with the coordinator, to use the common transaction identifier, and can process the global transaction for said one or more participants that share the resource manager instance using one transaction branch.

System and method for supporting common transaction identifier (XID) optimization based on resource manager (RM) instance awareness in a transactional environment

A transactional middleware system can exchange messages between a local machine and a remote machine using Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) protocol to achieve short latency in a manner like a local message transfer. The transactional middleware machine environment can prevent single-point bottleneck and achieve short latency. The transactional middleware machine environment comprises a first message queue associated with a server in a first transactional machine, wherein the server operates to be accessed using a queue address in the first message queue. The transactional middleware machine environment further comprises a second message queue associated with a client in a second transactional machine. The client operates to send a service request message to the server directly using the first message queue, and the server operates to receive the service request message from the first message queue and send a service response message directly to the client using the second message queue.

System and method for preventing single-point bottleneck in a transactional middleware machine environment

A system and method can support different message queues in a transactional middleware machine environment. The transactional middleware machine environment includes an advertized table that comprises a first queue table and a second queue table, with the first queue table storing address information for a first message queue and the second queue table storing address information for a second message queue. The advertized table is further adaptive to be used by a first transactional client to locate a transactional service provided by a transactional server. The first transactional client operates to look up the first queue table for a key that indicates the address information of the transactional service that is stored in the second queue table.
