A jet ink composition, a jet ink coating method and a resulting jet ink coated article are all predicated upon the jet ink composition which includes in addition to a particulate pigment material and a solvent composition a resin composition. The resin composition includes an uncured silicone resin, an uncured epoxy resin and an uncured melamine resin. Upon thermal cure the uncured resin composition forms a cured resin composition with superior adhesion to substrates such as but not limited to glass substrates, ceramic substrates and metal oxide substrates.

A method of printing a decoration on a substrate include inkjet printing a plurality of inks to forma layer having a predetermined pattern on a surface of the substrate, wherein each of the inks includes a solvent and has a different color; heating the substrate to evaporate at least a portion of the solvent in each of the plurality of inks; and thermally curing the layer after evaporating at least the portion of the solvent in each of the plurality of inks to form the decoration. The substrate is heated to a temperature that evaporates at least the portion of the solvent in each of the plurality of inks without fully curing the plurality of inks. A boiling point of the solvent in each of the plurality of inks is within 10&#xb0; C. of each other.

A method of printing a decoration on a substrate includes applying an ink coating in a predetermined design on the substrate by inkjet printing. The ink coating is cured to form a cured ink coating, and a portion of the cured ink coating is trimmed. Residual ink particles generated by the trimming are cleaned off the substrate. A printed substrate includes a substrate and a decoration printed on the substrate. The decoration comprises at least one layer of an inkjet-printed ink coating free of a saw edge and having a thickness in a range from 1.5 &#x3bc;m to 5 &#x3bc;m.

Method of printing decorations on substrates

A method of chemically strengthening a glass. The method includes ion exchange of the glass in a first bath, followed by immersion in the second bath. The first bath is diluted with an effluent ion. The second bath has a smaller concentration of the effluent ion than the first bath. The method provides a compressive stress at the surface of the glass that is sufficient to arrest flaws introduced by contact forces at the surface of the glass while having sufficiently deep compressive depth-of-layer for high reliability.
