A passive magnetic detection and discrimination system and method having at least one sensing structure with a plurality of magnetic inductive sensors arranged on a rigid framework; at least one screening area defined by one or more sensing structures, including a plurality of magnetic inductive sensors structured to respond to a magnetized object passing thereby; and a processor and a memory operatively connected to the plurality of sensors and configured to receive data corresponding to amplitude waveforms created in each of the plurality of sensors by the magnetized object. Based on characteristic waveforms, the system detects and discriminates the magnetized object, alternatively or in addition the system utilizes an artificial intelligence or machine learning module to improve identification of a magnetized object based on the characteristic waveforms created by the magnetized object.

Passive magnetic detection and discrimination for security screening

A radio receiver is made much more immune to jamming signals. A vector EM sensor, in a 2-dimensional (3-axis sensor) or 3-dimensional (6-axis sensor) sensor configuration, is combined with a unique digital rotation to a preferred direction to create a new reference channel and, using an advanced frequency domain noise mitigation algorithm or other noise cancellation algorithm, can effectively reject jamming and other interference signals and improve the signal-to-noise ratio (20-40 dB) and the receiving performance of the receiver. The method can cancel both near-field and far-field interference and improve accuracy for various applications concerned with establishing the direction, or bearing, to a source. A communication receiver with the vector sensor and the cancellation algorithm has unique anti-jamming capabilities even for multiple jamming sources.

Electromagnetic vector sensor noise mitigation

A system and method use electric potential measurements to locate and characterize passing projectiles, including advanced data processing methods to reject background noise and determine projectile speed, preferentially incorporating acoustic-based measurements to provide additional benefits.

E-field based projectile detection and characterization system

An apparatus for providing dynamic and remote tuning of a cryo-cooled bandpass filter is disclosed. The device includes resonator element and a voltage sensitive element as part of the capacitance in a narrow band filter circuit. A varactor such as a GaAs varactor may be used. Alternatively, a capacitor having a voltage-sensitive dielectric such as SrTiOmay be used. A computer may be connected to the varactor to provide for automated tuning. The voltage-sensitive capacitor may be integral with the resonator element. The invention provides for remote and dynamic tuning of a narrow bandpass filter while located within its sealed cryo-cooled environment.

An integrated fluxgate-induction sensor is formed of a combined fluxgate sensor and induction sensor using a common core. The sensor may be in serial operation where it switches between a fluxgate mode for measuring static magnetic fields and an induction mode for measuring alternating magnetic fields. Additionally, the sensor may be used in an interleaved operation where the sensor operates from the fluxgate mode during the transition period where its core is changing from a high permeability state to a low permeability state or vice versa, while the sensor operates in the induction mode when the core is in its high permeability state. The resulting sensor provides for a compact magnetic sensor system capable of sensing magnetic fields which oscillate from zero frequency to 10 kHz and higher.

One aspect of the invention is directed to on-chip high-frequency, low-jitter clock circuits including long Josephson junction (LJJ) oscillators usable as clock sources. LJJ oscillators embodying the invention may be formed using either &ldquo;linear&rdquo; or &ldquo;annular&rdquo; long Josephson junctions. This invention enables the generation and distribution of a stable high-frequency on-chip single flux quantum (SFQ) clock. The on-chip clock circuit may include a clock selector circuit and a clock distribution scheme and may be integrated with RSFQ circuits and/or with a wideband analog-to-digital converter (ADC) comparator. The invention also includes a new fluxon &ldquo;sender&rdquo; circuit suitable for synchronizing the LJJ oscillator with another oscillator, either on-chip or external to the chip. The new sender circuit may also enable the realization of a novel phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit.

On-chip long Josephson junction (LJJ) clock technology

A digital optical receiver and clock recovery circuit for use in detecting and retiming optical data transmitted at rates up to and exceeding 40 Gb/s. The receiver is made, in part, of superconducting Josephson junctions. The receiver includes an optical signal detector, an SFQ (single flux quantum) transition detector for converting the signal from the photodetector into a stream of single flux quantum signals, and a clock recovery circuit. The clock recovery circuit includes a superconducting ring oscillator in which an SFQ pulse rotates and provides a clock signal at an output of the oscillator. When a pulse from the stream of single flux quantum pulses arrives from the transition detector, two pulses are generated in the ring oscillator. One of the pulses eliminates the rotating SFQ pulse and the second pulse replaces the rotating SFQ pulse, thereby recovering the phase of the clock signal in one bit.
