A packet processing method, to improve a success rate of packet forwarding. The method implemented by a service function forwarder (SFF) includes: receiving a first packet; replacing a first packet header of the first packet with a second packet header to obtain a second packet, where the second packet includes a first identifier uniquely identified the first packet header; sending the second packet to a service function (SF) device; receiving a third packet from the SF, the third packet includes the first identifier; replacing a third packet header of the third packet with the first packet header to obtain a fourth packet; and sending the fourth packet to a next-hop node.

Packet processing method

This application provides a method for forwarding a packet in an SRv6 service function chain, an SFF, and an SF device, and belongs to the field of communication technologies. In this application, an End.PT.SID is used to identify that the SFF forwards an SRv6 packet to the SF device without stripping an SRH. Based on the End.PT.SID, the SFF does not strip the SRH in the SRv6 packet, but sends the SRv6 packet to the SF device. In addition, the SFF includes a control flag in the SRv6 packet, so that the control flag is used to identify a scenario in which an IPv6 extension header needs to be offset. The SF device directly offsets the IPv6 extension header in the SRv6 packet based on the control flag, to skip the SRH for service processing.

Method for forwarding packet in SRv6 service function chain, SFF, and SF device

This application discloses a service packet forwarding method and related apparatus. In the service packet forwarding method, when receiving a packet sent by any second virtual resource module connected to a first service function forwarder (SFF), the first SFF dynamically determines a forwarding path of the packet based on configuration information of a second virtual resource module for implementing a second service function, to achieve dynamic load balancing on the packet instead of relying on a service function chain ingress node to perform load balancing, so as to reduce pressure on the service function chain ingress node.

This application discloses a packet transmission method and device. This application provides a method for forwarding a packet to a peer end to restore an SRH. A new SID with a bypass function is extended for an End.AD SID, so that when a local proxy node fails to find the SRH from a local cache, the new SID and control information used to indicate to restore the SRH are carried in the packet whose SRH needs to be restored. The packet is transmitted to a peer proxy node by using the new SID, to indicate the peer proxy node to replace the local proxy node to restore the SRH. In this way, the SRH corresponding to the packet can be restored through the peer proxy node, and then the packet can continue to be forwarded in a network by using the SRH.

This application discloses a packet transmission method, a proxy node, and a storage medium, and pertains to the field of communications technologies. According to the method, a new SID with a bypass function is extended for an End.AD SID. Therefore, when receiving a packet that carries the End.AD SID, a local proxy node uses this new SID to transmit an SRH of the packet to a peer proxy node in a bypass manner, so that the peer proxy node can also obtain the SRH of the packet, and therefore the SRH of the packet can be stored in the peer proxy node. In this way, synchronization of the SRH of the packet can be implemented between the two proxy nodes that are dual-homed to a same SF node, so that the SRH of the packet is redundantly backed up.

Embodiments of this application disclose a method for discovering a forwarding path and a related device thereof, to discover a forwarding path. The method includes: receiving, by a first device, a packet that is sent by a second device and that is used to discover a forwarding path; searching, by the first device based on a first forwarding entry of a data plane, for forwarding information used to forward the packet; and sending, by the first device, path information to the second device based on a second forwarding entry of an autonomic control plane virtual routing and forwarding (ACP VRF) instance, where the first forwarding entry and the second forwarding entry are isolated from each other. In the embodiments, the first forwarding entry and the second forwarding entry are isolated from each other, and returning of the path information is not affected by a data plane fault.

Method for discovering forwarding path and related device thereof

This application discloses a forwarding entry monitoring method and apparatus, to quickly determine a changed forwarding entry, thereby improving locating efficiency. The method includes: determining, by a first node, a monitored data stream; determining, by the first node, that a stored forwarding entry changes, where the forwarding entry is used to forward the data stream; and sending, by the first node, a first packet to a second node. The second node is located on a transmission path of the data stream, and the second node is a previous-hop node of the first node. The first packet carries a change instruction.
