A capability allocation method employed by a wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) device includes: during association between the Wi-Fi device and another Wi-Fi device, setting up a first capability allocation of a first non-AP station (STA); and after the first non-AP STA associates with a first AP, changing the first capability allocation of the first non-AP STA in the absence of re-association. Each of the Wi-Fi device and the another Wi-Fi device includes a plurality of stations. The first AP is affiliated to the another Wi-Fi device. Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for simultaneously transmitting frames of an A-MSDU over multiple links in a multi-link operation between wireless devices (e.g., a wireless STA and a wireless AP). The A-MSDU can be aggregated to satisfy capability requirements of the transmitting device and/or the receiving device. Moreover, the A-MSDU can be fragmented, for example, to satisfy an MPDU length requirement of the transmitting device and/or the receiving device. Some embodiments disclosed herein use a virtual mac address of an LLC sublayer interface to define parameters values of an A-MSDU sub-frame header (e.g., SA and DA) for routing the respective frame to the LLC sublayer interface of the receiving device.

Apparatus and methods for EHT multi-band A-MSDU operation

Embodiments of the present invention provide transmission schemes and methods that can assign multiple resource units (RUs) to a single wireless station using Aggregate Media Access Control Protocol Data Unit (A-MPDUs) in a flexible transmission scheme for the multi-RUs transmission. Embodiments of the present invention can send and receive data sing multiple resource units allocated to a single wireless STA. A 20 MHz segment and a 40 MHz segment on either side of a punctured portion of an 80 MHz segment can be treated as separate resource units (RUs), and the RUs can be assigned to the same wireless user/device. Each punctured 80 MHz segment can be interleaved separately. Different processes for encoding data and transmission schemes for transmitting the data are described herein according to embodiments of the present invention. Different transmission schemes can be used based on the size and number of the RUs allocated to an STA.

Embodiments of the present invention are drawn to electronic systems capable of transmitting a group addressed frame that identifies an MLD according to an MLD MAC address. Multi-link operations can provide higher network throughput and improved network flexibility compared to traditional techniques for wireless communication. Embodiments of the present invention provide a method of frame transmission that prevents constrained MLDs from transmitting and receiving frames on multiple links simultaneously using a novel and reliable group addressed frame transmission schedule for constrained MLDs. Group addressed frames are frames that are transmitted to several devices (e.g., broadcast) listening on a wireless link. It is important to carefully schedule group addressed frames for reception by MLDs to prevent IDC interference. According to some embodiments, group addressed frames are only transmitted when all MLDs listening on a wireless link are not transmitting data to prevent IDC interference.

A network device to function as an Access Point (AP) in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is provided. The AP is configured to acknowledge a data frame transmitted by a station (STA) in an uplink multi-user physical layer protocol data unit (UL MU PPDU). The AP includes one or more memories, a physical layer (PHY) processor, and a media access controller (MAC) processor. Each processor is coupled to the one or more memories, and is configured to receive the UL MU PPDU, decode an acknowledge (ACK) policy field within a data field of the UL MU PPDU, and determine whether an acknowledgement (ACK) policy indicated in the data field signals an implicit block acknowledgement (BlockAck) request. Responsive to a determination that the ACK policy indication signals an implicit acknowledgement policy, the AP is configured to transmit an ACK or BlockAck frame to the STA in either a single user (SU) or a multi user (MU) manner.

Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for discovering a multi-link device (MLD) on a wireless network. One exemplary approach includes transmitting a beacon frame including a MAC address of an AP MLD on the wireless network. A password element is generated using a preconfigured password and the MAC address of the AP MLD, and authentication is performed using the password element.

An encryption mechanism used on cooperative multi-band wireless STA architecture that enables full duplex operations. In encrypting a frame, an AAD can be constructed by using a selected MAC address, which may not be associated with a band to be used for transmitting the frame in an upcoming TXOP. An STA that supports simultaneous transmission in a multi-band operation uses the same MAC address to encrypt the frames to be transmitted on different bands. An AAD is constructed by using a same MAC address corresponding to one of the transceivers. A transmit STA may specify band information used for encryption in the MAC header, which serves to signal the receive STA to decrypt the frame by using the proper information.
