A secondary battery, including a case including an internal space; an electrode assembly in the case, the electrode assembly having a current collection tab drawn from a positive electrode plate, a current collection tab drawn from a negative electrode plate, and a separator between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate; an electrode terminal electrically connected to each of the current collection tab; an insulation plate between the electrode assembly and the electrode terminal; and a cap plate exposing the electrode terminal, the cap plate sealing the case, the insulation plate including one or more protrusions on a surface facing the cap plate.

Secondary battery

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly in a case, a terminal which passes through and protrudes from a cap plate, and a current collector plate in the case. The current collector plate electrically connects the electrode assembly and the terminal portion. The current collector plate has a fuse area which includes a fuse hole having a substantially elongated shape with round sides oriented in a widthwise direction of the current collector plate.

A secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a case accommodating the electrode assembly and having an opening at one side thereof; a cap plate closing the opening of the case and having a first recessed groove at one end thereof and a second recessed groove at another end thereof, both the first and second recessed grooves being at an outer surface of the cap plate; a first terminal unit including: a first electrode terminal electrically connected to a first electrode plate and protruding outside of the case; a first terminal plate electrically connected to the first electrode terminal; and an insulation member coupled to the cap plate in the first recessed groove and surrounding peripheral surfaces and a bottom surface of the first terminal plate; and a second terminal unit electrically connected to the second electrode plate and coupled to the cap plate in the second recessed groove.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly having a first electrode tab and a second electrode tab; a first current collection plate electrically connected to the first electrode tab; a case accommodating the electrode assembly; a cap assembly including a cap plate sealing the top-end opening of the case; a connecting pin located between the first current collection plate and the cap plate and electrically connecting the first current collection plate and the cap plate; and a first terminal unit electrically contacting the first current collection plate and protruding through the cap plate.

The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap plate sealing the case and including an inversion plate, and a terminal assembly. The terminal assembly includes an insulation plate coupled to a top surface of the cap plate and having a short-circuit hole corresponding to the inversion plate and an air hole spaced apart from the short-circuit hole, a terminal plate coupled to a top surface of the insulation plate and electrically connected to the electrode assembly, and a sealing member coupled to a bottom surface of the insulation plate and opening or closing the air hole.

A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly; a case accommodating the electrode assembly; a cap plate sealing the case and having an inversion plate; and an insulation plate having a short-circuit hole generally corresponding to the inversion plate and an air opening spaced from the short-circuit hole and fluidly connected to a top surface of the cap plate; a terminal plate coupled to a top surface of the insulation plate and electrically connected to the electrode assembly; and a terminal assembly including a sealing member coupled to a bottom surface of the insulation plate and formed to encompass the short-circuit hole and the air opening.

An embodiment of the present invention provides a rechargeable secondary battery, which can rapidly cut off charge and/or discharge paths by a force provided from an elastic force offering part in addition to fusion of a fuse when an external short circuit or overcharge occurs to the rechargeable secondary battery. To this end, there is provided a rechargeable secondary battery including: a case; an electrode assembly in the case; a collector plate coupled to the electrode assembly and comprising a fuse part; a terminal coupled to the collector plate and extending to an outside of the case; and an elastic force offering part between the case and the collector plate.
