Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may be used to help enable low latency communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS) using quick uplink channels that enable a reduced transmission time interval (TTI). An example method generally includes identifying a plurality of slots in a subframe, receiving a resource configuration for an uplink channel, wherein the resource configuration is associated with a first slot of the plurality of slots, determining a resource for transmitting the uplink channel in a second slot of the plurality of slots, wherein the resource is determined based on the resource configuration associated with the first slot of the plurality of slots, and transmitting the uplink channel in the second slot using the determined resource.

Uplink channel design for slot-based transmission time interval (TTI)

New radio (NR) transmission opportunity (TxOP) structure having flexible starting points are disclosed for wireless communications. When a typical listen before talk (LBT) procedure is performed, the transmitting node will not know ahead of time when the LBT will pass and, thus, when data transmissions can start. NR systems may include a mini-slot design for accommodating transmission units smaller than a slot. Aspects of the present disclosure provide for flexibly increasing the number of potential starting transmission boundaries depending on when the LBT pass is detected. Alternative aspects of the present disclosure determine the potential starting transmission points using a mini-slot based design, a floating slot based design, or a punctured slot based design with a code block group (CBG) level retransmission mechanism.

NR-unlicensed transmission opportunity structure with flexible starting point

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a first case, a first user equipment (UE) may transmit to a second UE a sidelink discovery message preamble corresponding to a sidelink discovery message. The first UE may identify resources for transmission of the sidelink discovery messages based on the sidelink discovery message preamble. The first UE may either transmit the sidelink discovery message to the second UE or may receive the sidelink discovery message from the second UE using the identified resources for the transmission of the sidelink discovery message. In some cases, the second UE may transmit sidelink control information (SCI) to the first UE, and may transmit a sidelink discovery message to the first UE based on resources identified in the SCI. In some cases, the first UE may transmit the sidelink discovery message without transmission of a preamble or a SCI.

Sidelink discovery procedure

Methods, systems, and devices are described for hierarchical communications and low latency support within a wireless communications system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communications system which is at least partially defined through a first layer with first layer transmissions having a first subframe type and a second layer with second layer transmissions having a second subframe type. The first subframe type may have a first round trip time (RTT) between transmission and acknowledgment of receipt of the transmission, and the second layer may have a second RTT that is less than the first RTT. Subframes of the first subframe type may be multiplexed with subframes of the second subframe type, such as through time division multiplexing. In some examples symbols of different duration may be multiplexed such that different symbol durations coexist.

Mixed numerology OFDM design

Techniques providing opportunistic frequency switching for frame based equipment (FBE), such as may be configured to minimize opportunistic frequency switching delay in FBE new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) networks and/or to provide frequency diversity FBE access based on offset sequences of medium sensing occasions for the carrier frequencies are disclosed. Within the FBE mode network, a base station may configure a pattern of sensing locations in each frame for each frequency transmission unit of the plurality of frequency transmission units, wherein an inter-unit delay of sensing locations between a first frequency transmission unit and a next adjacent frequency transmission unit and between a last frequency transmission unit and the first frequency transmission unit is a fixed duration. Opportunistic frequency switching of embodiments may utilize the medium sensing locations for opportunistically switching between a sequence of the frequency transmission units for implementing frequency diversity FBE access.

Opportunistic frequency switching for frame based equipment

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for uplink (UL) data channel design. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a first apparatus. The example method generally comprises determining a number of pilot symbols to transmit for one or more slots of a first subframe based, at least in part, on a coverage enhancement (CE) level, and transmitting at least one uplink data channel having the determined number of pilot symbols in the one or more slots of the first subframe.

Uplink data channel design for narrowband devices

Aspects of the present invention relate to wireless communications by a user equipment (UE), comprising, identifying resources in a narrowband region, the narrowband region spanning no more than a single resource block in a transmission time interval (TTI) and communicating with a base station using the identified resources.

Long-term evolution compatible very narrow band design

Control information may be transmitted for different TTI lengths. Different control information for the different TTIs may be transmitted using control channel resources that are established for communication of control information, such as a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), for example. Control information for a first TTI may be located in a first set of resources, and control information for a second TTI may be located in a second set of resources. The first set of resources may be located within a first search space that may be searched by a user equipment (UE) to identify the first control information. The second set of resources may be located within a second search space that may be searched by the UE to identify the second control information.

Control channel signaling techniques in wireless systems with multiple possible transmission time intervals

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to neural network based channel state information (CSI) feedback. In some aspects, a device may obtain a CSI instance for a channel, determine a neural network model including a CSI encoder and a CSI decoder, and train the neural network model based at least in part on encoding the CSI instance into encoded CSI, decoding the encoded CSI into decoded CSI, and computing and minimizing a loss function by comparing the CSI instance and the decoded CSI. The device may obtain one or more encoder weights and one or more decoder weights based at least in part on training the neural network model. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Neural network based channel state information feedback

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station of a first network operator (OP) may determine a priority for the first OP for a transmission opportunity of a shared or unlicensed channel. The priority may be lower than a priority of a second OP for the transmission opportunity. Base station may transmit a tentative grant to a user equipment (UE) of the first OP scheduling transmissions over resources of the transmission opportunity. The transmitting device of the first OP may monitor a contention window for reservation signals communicated by devices of the second OP. Based on the monitoring and the tentative grant, the transmitting device of the first OP may perform the transmission over the resources of the shared or unlicensed channel.

Synchronous shared spectrum

Wireless communications systems and methods related to uplink communications with transmission on-off patterns and frequency-hopping in a shared radio frequency band are provided. A first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, a configuration indicating a plurality of uplink (UL) transmission on-off patterns that are offset from each other in time. The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device in an unlicensed band, a first UL communication signal based on a first UL transmission on-off pattern of the plurality of UL transmission on-off patterns.

Uplink operation for frequency-hopping user equipment (UE) based on on/off patterns

Coordination of listen before talk (LBT) structure in new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) multi-channel access operations is disclosed. In one aspect, when a base station determines to access shared communication spectrum, it may transmit an LBT structure signal that identifies the current LBT structure. The base station would then attempt access to the shared spectrum according to the LBT structure. In another aspect, a coordination server is used to manage access to the shared spectrum. Each node desiring access registers with the coordination server, which provides access parameters for the accessing node to use that increases the likelihood of successful access. The accessing nodes will transmit the selected access configuration used to access the shared spectrum, wherein the access configuration is selected based on the access parameters.

Coordination of listen before talk structure in new radio-unlicensed multi-channel access

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for narrowband communications using frequency hopping. In some implementations, a user equipment (UE) may receive a discovery reference signal (DRS) including a skipping signal identifying one or more UEs, may stay on an anchor channel when the skipping signal identifies the UE, and may switch from the anchor channel to a first downlink (DL) hopping channel of a DL frequency hopping pattern when the signal does not identify the UE. In some other implementations, a base station (BS) may be configured to output a DRS including a skipping signal identifying one or more UEs, output a signal indicating a channel occupancy time (COT) obtained on a first DL hopping channel of a DL frequency hopping pattern, and output DL data on the first DL hopping channel of the DL frequency hopping pattern.

Skipping downlink frequency hops in unlicensed frequency band

New radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) multi-channel access is disclosed for low-radio frequency (RF)-capable user equipment (UE). A base station may enable multi-channel access when single operator operations cannot be guaranteed within a shared communication spectrum. The primary and secondary channels are defined within the shared communication channel. The base station may then transmit a configuration message to one or more low-RF UEs that identifies the charnels and directs the UEs to monitor the primary channel for a successful listen before talk (LBT) indicator. The base station performs an LBT procedure on the primary channel and the secondary channel and signals the low-RF UEs to re-tune to the secondary channel for communication during a current transmission opportunity.
