A system and method for identifying whether data skew is causing delays in a map phase and/or a reduce phase of a query of a distributed database. The system and method identify the values of various metrics relating to a database query. These metrics include map phase and reduce phase durations and various related metrics. The system and method gather statistics of multiple queries to determine correlation levels between the metrics and the map phase and reduce phase durations. Based on the statistics, the system and method determine whether one or both of the map and reduce phases for a query/response are taking longer than expected. If the durations are longer than expected, the system identifies the delay as caused by data skew and informs the originator of the query.

Distributed database job data skew detection

Embodiments relate to segmenting blood vessels in angiogram images. An aspect includes a method that includes receiving and preprocessing at least one angiogram frame and preprocessing. In one embodiment, at least one angiogram frame is received and preprocessed. Bottom-up filtering of the preprocessed angiogram frame and top-down segmentation of the preprocessed angiogram frame are performed based on the results of the bottom-up filtering. The bottom-up filtering and the top-down segmentation are iteratively repeated until the difference between results of the top-down segmentation from consecutive iterations is equal to or below a threshold value. Based on determining that a difference between results of the top-down segmentation from consecutive iterations is below or equal to the threshold value, the results of the top-down segmentation are outputted.

Two primary elements are employed, including training and recognition. Training pertains to the pre-processing images and extracting salient features that characterize the appearance of coronary arteries under different viewpoints. A high speed optoelectronic subassembly in an optoelectronic package is disclosed that includes a dielectric support having a first electrical trace on a surface thereof and a dielectric member mounted on the surface of the support having a second electrical trace thereon. The support extends laterally a distance greater than the member to form a shelf. A dielectric step is positioned on the shelf abutting an end of the member and a laser is positioned on the shelf adjacent the step so as to be light accessible external to the subassembly. The laser and the step have surfaces equal in height and cooperate to provide a mounting platform. A resistive element is positioned on the mounting platform and electrically connected to the laser, the resistive element and laser being electrically externally accessible through the traces.

High speed optoelectronic subassembly and package for optical devices

An optical circulator having a dual fiber collimator and a single fiber collimator is described. The circulator provides a non-reciprocal functionality that directs input signals from a first fiber of the dual fiber collimator to the single fiber collimator. Input signals from the single fiber collimator are directed to a second fiber of the dual fiber collimator. The circulator includes birefringent wedges that change the angle of signals from the single fiber collimator to direct the signals to the second fiber of the dual fiber collimator. Because the circulator includes two collimators rather than three collimators, the circulator is more compact than a circulator having three collimators.

A method and apparatus for obtaining client information relating to a web page in a World Wide Web site utilizes a tracker tag in the code of the web page for initiating a client information tracking program. The tracking program may be on a client computer that is accessing the web page, or a tracking computer that is remote from the client computer. The tracking program is initiated by a tracker message transmitted from a web browser on the client computer to the tracking program when the tracker tag is read by the web browser. In one embodiment, the tracking program first obtains the client information, and then stores the client information in the memory of a computer having the tracking program.
