In the turbine of a gas turbine engine, disk cavities exist between rotor and stator assemblies. These disk cavities enable hot gas from the hot gas flow path to ingress between the rotor and stator assemblies with detrimental effects to the durability of the turbine. Thus, a flow discourager is disclosed that can be integrated into the platform of a stator assembly that is downstream from a rotor assembly. The flow discourager comprises a continuous external surface that defines a recirculation zone within a disk cavity that is aft to a rotor assembly to circulate the hot gas back out into the hot gas flow path.

In the turbine of a gas turbine engine, disk cavities exist between stator and rotor assemblies. Disclosed is a power generating system for a rotatory dental apparatus that can power the illumination source. The rotatory dental apparatus includes a supply hose having a hose connector at its one end. A swivel coupling connects the hose connector to the dental handpiece. The power generating system can be configured in the hose supply. In one case, the power generating system can be installed in the hose connector of the hose supply. In one case, the power generating system can be interposed between the two sections of the hose supply. In one case, the power generating system can be installed in a hose coupling that is interposed between the swivel coupling and the hose connector.

The insert tube includes a pressure side wall, a suction side wall opposite and spaced apart from the pressure side wall, a leading edge, and a trailing edge opposite the leading edge. The insert tube includes a plurality of cooling channels spaced along the pressure side wall. The insert tube includes an indented portion located between the trailing edge and the pressure side wall.

A grommet for a combustor of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The grommet includes a lower platform and a raised platform. The lower platform includes a plurality of top slots located in the top surface and a plurality of bottom slots located in the bottom surface. Each top slot and bottom slot may extend radially along the lower platform. The plurality of top slots may be spaced equidistantly from one another along the circumference of the lower platform. The plurality of bottom slots may be spaced equidistantly from one another along the circumference of the lower platform.

A turbine stage for a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The turbine stage includes a turbine disk and a turbine diaphragm, forming a cavity there between. The turbine stage also includes an exit flow discourager comprised of at least two teeth. The teeth may be located radially apart from each other, each tooth including a length extending in the axial direction and a width extending in the radial direction. A channel is formed between the teeth and an axially adjacent surface. A recirculation region may be formed in between each pair of teeth.

An apparatus for measuring temperature parameters of a structure is provided. The apparatus comprises: a carrier including at least one receiving portion; and a plurality of temperature sensors disposed within the at least one receiving portion and secured to the receiving portion via a bonding medium, the sensors being distributed along at least one direction of the carrier and configured to measure and record temperature information through microstructural changes corresponding to temperatures experienced by the respective sensors.

A damper for a turbine rotor assembly of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The damper may have a forward plate. The damper may further have an aft plate including a larger surface area than the forward plate. The aft plate may have at least one aperture for regulating a flow of gas through the aft plate. The damper may also have a longitudinal structure connecting the forward plate and the aft plate.

A damper for a turbine rotor assembly of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The damper may have a forward plate. The damper may further have an aft plate including a larger surface area than the forward plate. The aft plate may have at least one aperture for regulating a flow of through the aft plate. A turbine blade is disclosed. The turbine blade may have an airfoil extending from a first surface of a turbine platform. The turbine blade may further have a first side pocket of the turbine platform that is configured to substantially entirely house a first moveable seal between a forward wall of the first side pocket and an aft wall of the first side pocket. The first side pocket may have a convex surface, extending between the forward wall and the aft wall, and a concave surface. The turbine blade may also have a second side pocket of the turbine platform configured to receive a portion of a second moveable seal.

A jet impingement array design and method are disclosed for efficiently cooling the liner of a gas turbine combustion chamber, while eliminating almost all effects of coolant gas crossflow. The design includes an array of extended jet ports for which the distance between the ends of the jet ports and the surface to be cooled progressively decreases from upstream to downstream. Spent air from upstream jets is directed away from downstream jets, thereby reducing the detrimental effects of crossflow, and optimizing heat transfer.

A robust multiple-walled, multi-pass, high cooling effectiveness cooled turbine vane or blade designed for ease of manufacturability, minimizes cooling flows on highly loaded turbine rotors. The vane or blade design allows the turbine inlet temperature to increase over current technology levels while simultaneously reducing turbine cooling to low levels. A multi-wall cooling system is described, which meets the inherent conflict to maximize the flow area of the cooling passages while retaining the required section thickness to meet the structural requirements. Independent cooling circuits for the vane or blade's pressure and suction surfaces allow the cooling of the airfoil surfaces to be tailored to specific heat load distributions (that is, the pressure surface circuit is an independent forward flowing serpentine while the suction surface is an independent rearward flowing serpentine). The cooling air for the independent circuits is supplied through separate passages at the base of the vane or blade. The cooling air follows intricate passages to feed the serpentine thin outer wall passages, which incorporate pin fins, turbulators, etc. These passages, while satisfying the aero/thermal/stress requirements, are of a manufacturing configuration that may be cast with single crystal materials using conventional casting techniques.
