A backlight assembly includes at least one lamp including a lamp electrode, at least one lamp socket holding the lamp, an inverter applying electric power to the lamp, and a receiving container including a socket receiving portion corresponding to an end portion of the lamp to receive the lamp socket and an inverter receiving portion for receiving the inverter. Therefore, a manufacturing process may be simplified, and manufacturing costs is decreased.

In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a display device is provided that includes a display panel configured to display an image, a plurality of driver integrated circuit packages that include a base film and an integrated circuit chip mounted on the base film and of which one side is attached to an edge of the display panel, and a supporting member that fixedly supports the display panel. The supporting member includes a supporting body that fixedly supports the display panel, and a contact heat dissipating portion that protrudes from the supporting body and comes in contact with the driver integrated circuit packages in an area where the integrated circuit chip is formed.

Display device

A display device includes a backlight assembly and a panel assembly. The backlight assembly includes lamps which emit light when properly powered. Each of the lamps includes a lead terminal, and receives electric power through a lamp socket that is electrically connected to an external power supply. The lamp socket includes a socket cover inserted in the lamp socket. The socket cover supportively embraces a resilient contact terminal within the socket body and thus helps the contact terminal to maintain grip with the lead terminal. The socket cover includes a metal material that is able to absorb and safely dissipate heat impulses from nearby intermittent sparks, so that the socket cover is not substantially deformed by the heat impulses of multiple sparks that occur nearby at contact points between the lamp lead terminal and the socket contact terminal.

A lamp socket with decreased number of components is presented. The lamp socket includes a socket housing and a power supply member. The socket housing has a connecting hole. The power supply member includes a first lamp connecting terminal and a second lamp connecting terminal. The first lamp connecting terminal is inserted into the connecting hole and includes a first fixing portion that extends through the connecting hole and a first guide portion that extends from an end portion of the first fixing portion toward a first inner wall of the connecting hole. The second lamp connecting terminal is inserted into the connecting hole and includes a second fixing portion that extends through the connecting hole and a second guide portion that extends from an end portion of the second fixing portion toward a second inner wall of the connecting hole.

A lamp holder includes a holder body and a power connector. A lamp guide groove is formed on an upper portion of the holder body. An inverter insertion groove is formed on a lower portion of the holder body, and a power supply board is slidably coupled to the inverter insertion groove. The power connector includes a first portion exposed to the inverter insertion groove, and a second portion disposed adjacent to the lamp guide groove. The lamp holder fixed to a fixing groove of an insulation plate is inserted into an opening formed through a bottom plate of a receiving container. Thus, a backlight assembly having the lamp holder may be easily assembled and repaired.
