A rechargeable battery includes a case, a cap plate coupled with the case, a terminal passing though a terminal hole in the cap plate, the terminal hole, and a sealing member in the terminal hole partially enclosing the terminal. A rechargeable battery may include an electrode assembly that performs a charge and discharge action, a case in which the electrode assembly is inserted, a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case, and an electrode terminal in a terminal hole of the cap plate. The electrode terminal may include a plate terminal outside the cap plate and corresponding to the terminal hole, the plate terminal including a through-hole, a first groove, and a second groove, and a rivet terminal, the rivet terminal passing through the terminal hole, being inserted in the through-hole, and being riveted to the plate terminal at an upper end of the rivet terminal. The first groove may extend from the through-hole at an upper end side of the rivet terminal, and the second groove may extend from the first groove to an outer side of the plate terminal.

A rechargeable battery includes an electrode assembly, a case containing the electrode assembly and a cap assembly coupled to the case. The electrode assembly includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode. The cap assembly includes a cap plate and a deformable plate attached to the cap plate and configured to deform in response to an increase in pressure inside the case to electrically couple the first electrode and the second electrode to each other.

The battery unit further includes a fixing member in the terminal insertion portion fixing the terminal member to the cap plate and having injection-molded plastic resin in the terminal insertion portion surrounding the terminal member; and a support member coupled to the cap plate and supporting the terminal portion with respect to the cap plate.
