Flexible structured-pipelined CORDIC techniques efficiently perform various CORDIC operations and support different parameters for MIMO MEQ processing. The structured-pipelined CORDIC techniques simplify signal processing flow, unify input requirements and output delay, and simplify integration. Look-up table techniques provide quick generation of control signals, reduce design and verification efforts, and facilitate design automation. In addition, the structured-pipelined CORDIC techniques are conducive to hardware sharing and reuse. The structured-pipelined CORDIC techniques reduce integrated circuit area and power consumption.

Structured-pipelined CORDIC for matrix equalization

A communication device determines that a data rate of a data packet exceeds a threshold, and in response, lowers a processing speed of an equalizer device to prevent a buffer from overflowing. The buffer stores outputs generated by the equalizer device. A forward error correction code decoder device of the communication device processes outputs of the equalizer device corresponding to the data packet to generate decoded information corresponding to the data packet. The communication device transmits an acknowledgment packet to acknowledge the data packet such that transmission of the acknowledgment packet begins within required time period, defined by a communication protocol, after an end of the data packet.

WiFi receiver architecture

A plurality of circuit units of a matrix processor of a communication device are used to decompose a plurality of channel matrices, corresponding to a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) tones, over a plurality of cycles to determine matrix equalizer coefficients. Decomposing the plurality of channel matrices includes determining respective modes of operation for respective ones of the circuit units for respective ones of the cycles. The respective modes of operation are selected from a set of modes that includes at least one of a bypass mode for propagating input signals to output signals without altering the input signals and an idle mode for saving power when a particular circuit unit is not needed during a particular cycle. The respective circuit units are individually controlled to operate in the determined respective modes during the corresponding cycles. The determined matrix coefficients are then applied to received data signals.

Matrix equalization computation with pipelined architecture

Systems and methods for detecting data in a received multiple-input-multiple-output signal are provided. N signals are received from N respective antennas, where the received signals are associated with (i) M sets of data values, (ii) a set of symbols, and (iii) a set of carrier frequencies. The N signals are formed into a received signal vector y, and one or more transformations are performed on the received signal vector y to obtain a transformed vector. A plurality of samples are formed from the transformed vector. For samples of the plurality of samples, a data detection technique of a plurality of data detection techniques is selected. The selecting is based on at least one of a spatial stream, a symbol, and a carrier frequency associated with the given sample. The selected data detection, technique is used to detect data of the given sample.
