Disclosed is a backlight unit and a display device including the same. The backlight unit includes a backlight configured to supply light in one direction, a case that accommodates the backlight, and a cabinet coupled to a top of the case, and configured to include a side wall which faces one direction. The inside of the case has a hive structure. At least one edge region of the case includes a stepped portion which is lower in height than a central region of the case to accommodate the cabinet.

Backlight unit and display device using the same

A backlight unit being scan-driven is discussed. The backlight unit according to an embodiment includes light sources configured to emit light, and a light guide plate disposed parallel to the light sources and configured to convert spotted lights entered from the light sources into two-dimensional light. The light guide plate includes a plurality of air barriers arranged at a fixed interval and configured to guide lights from the light sources in blocks with a width of the fixed interval.
