In a quantum computer, quantum algorithms are performed by exciting a qubit with a quantum control pulse. This quantum control pulse is an electromagnetic RF signal that is generated at baseband according to an analog waveform. An application digitally generates samples of this analog waveform using multiple classical processors that control multiple physical channels in parallel.

A channel between quantum controller modules (e.g., pulse processors) is operable to communicate high speed data required for processing qubit states that may be distributed across a quantum computer. The latency of the communication channel is deterministic and controllable according to a system clock domain.

In a quantum computer, quantum algorithms are performed by a qubit interacting with a quantum control pulse. This quantum control pulse is an electromagnetic RF signal that is generated at baseband according to an analog waveform. An application circuit digitally generates samples of this analog waveform. These waveform samples are further modified according to post-processing instructions. To avoid processing gaps, the waveform samples and the modification instructions are maintained in buffers that are accessed independently. To maintain coherency, the waveform samples and the modification instructions are read simultaneously by an execution controller.

Buffering the control of a quantum device

Quantum algorithms are performed via a quantum computer, by generating a quantum control pulse in a quantum controller and transmitting the quantum control pulse to a quantum processor. The quantum control pulse interacts with a qubit in the quantum processor. Within the quantum controller, a pulse processor generates a plurality of raw pulses that are modified by a front end hardware module. During the normal operation of the quantum controller, samples of the raw and/or modified pulses may be selected and saved to memory. During a design for validation (DFV) mode, the proper operation of the quantum controller is determined according to a simulation of the quantum controller and the saved samples. The DFV mode may be performed in parallel with normal operation without affecting the resources of the quantum controller.

Circuitry of a pulse generation program compiler is operable to parse pulse generation program source code comprising a declaration of a non-stream variable, a declaration of a stream variable, and one or more stream processing statements that reference the stream variable. The circuitry of the pulse generation program compiler is operable to generate, based on the declaration of the non-stream variable, a machine for execution by a quantum controller and a quantum orchestration server.

A quantum orchestration platform (QOP) comprises a collection of processing units and analog components that produce synchronized analog pulses, readouts, and computations that may be used for operations with qubits. This disclosure describes an auto-calibration of mixers in a quantum orchestration platform. Predistortion is computed according to an RF signal that is downconverted with a local oscillator tone that is offset from an upconverter tone. Three tones present in the original RF signal are distinguished and used to construct a cost function. The minimization of the cost function is used to cancel an unwanted LO leakage and an image tone. Because the quantum orchestration platform generates both the unconverted IQ signals and the cost function for their optimization, the optimization can be performed in real time inside a single device without the need to communicate with external devices. This allows for the optimization of single sideband upconverted signals in a fraction of the time it typically takes using distributed systems employing separate waveform generators and spectrum analyzers.

Auto-calibrating mixers in a quantum orchestration platform

A system comprises quantum control interconnect circuitry configured to receive a plurality of fixed-frequency signals, a variable-frequency signal, a quantum control pulse, a quantum element readout pulse, and a quantum element return pulse. The circuitry is operable to upconvert the quantum control pulse using the fixed-frequency signals. The circuitry is operable to upconvert the readout pulse using the variable-frequency signal. The circuitry is operable to downconvert the return pulse using the variable-frequency signal.

A system comprises an electromagnetic pulse generation system that comprises a first pulse generation circuit, a second pulse generation circuit, and a mixing circuit.
