In an apparatus for controlling a mobile robot having leg locomotion mechanisms for traveling and walking and work mechanisms both connected to a body, actuators for driving them, and a controller for controlling the operation of the locomotion mechanisms and work mechanisms by supplying the actuators with a control value calculated by multiplying a deviation between a detected value and a desired value by a gain and to control operation of a speech input/output unit to recognize a human voice inputted through a microphone and utter a generated response to the human voice from a speaker, the controller calculates the gain of the control value to be supplied to at least one of the actuators at a minimum value when controlling only the operation of the speech input/output unit.

Apparatus for controlling mobile robot

A target object detection server is a detection server which communicates by wireless to a detector which detects whether or not a target object exists within a surrounding area of the detector by means of a detection tag mounted on the target object. Furthermore, the target object detection server connects through a network with one or more receivers which are arranged in a surrounding area of the target object, and receives a radio wave transmitted from the detection tag. According to the target object detection server mentioned above, it is possible to increase reliability for detecting the target object more accurately.

A mobile robot includes a radio communication unit; a radio environment detector detecting plural types of radio environment data indicating the degree of goodness of radio environment, a comprehensive radio environment data being calculated from results of weighting the plural types of radio environment data with predetermined weights; a self-position detecting unit; a storage for map data of a movement area; the calculated comprehensive radio environment data being written in association with its own position detected. The robot moves at a movement speed not higher than the maximum movement speed determined so that communication with the radio base station is not cut off during movement and, if radio communication is cut off, searches the radio environment map for a communication restoration position where the radio communication is feasible to establish and moves to the communication restoration position and has the radio intensity reporting control section reporting the determined level of radio intensity.

A robot recording a message on a wireless tag which includes: a voice recognition unit recognizing a voice input by a voice input unit which inputs a voice of a person; a message extraction unit extracting the message from the voice recognized by the voice recognition unit based on a fixed phrase provided for obtaining a message; a recording unit recording the message extracted by the message extraction unit on the wireless tag provided on an object.

Interface apparatus and mobile robot equipped with the interface apparatus

In an event site or the like, a visitor may waste time and effort trying to find a spot where an event of interest may be taking place because the visitor is unable to look through the entire site from any particular spot. An information gathering robot roams in such an event site typically along a prescribed route, and notes spots of interest to transmit this information to a data server. The visitor can access the data server to find a spot of interest of his or her choice substantially on a real time basis.
