A device management system includes a managed device and a device management apparatus. The device management apparatus includes an information acquisition unit requesting device information from the managed device. The managed device includes a storage unit, a first information source managing device information that is available via a communication protocol, a second information source managing device information that is not available via the communication protocol, and an information providing unit providing the requested device information to the information acquisition unit. The information providing unit determines whether an up-to-date version of the requested device information is stored in a storage area of the storage unit and obtains the up-to-date version of the requested device information from the first information source or the second information source if the up-to-date version of the requested device information is not stored in the storage area of the storage unit.

A device management system includes a managed device and a device management apparatus. The managed device includes a detection unit detecting a status change indicating a power-on or a network setting change of the managed device, a generating unit generating alert information based on the detected status change, and a transmitting unit configured to transmit the generated alert information to the device management apparatus. The device management apparatus includes a registration/update determining unit comparing the alert information with device management information and determining, based on the comparison result, whether it is necessary to perform a registration process or an update process on the device management information, and a registration/updating unit registering information extracted from the alert information in the device management information or updating a corresponding information item in the device management information with the information extracted from the alert information according to the determination result.

An image processing apparatus is disclosed including a document data analysis unit and an authentication unit. The document data analysis unit can identify policy data related to the authentication of a document based on information related to a document and/or the type of the document, identify items in document data to be verified, conversion to be performed on data of the items, and verification information contained in the document data based on the identified policy data, and perform the identified conversion on data of the identified items. The authentication unit can authenticate the document based on the data on which the identified conversion is performed and the identified verification information.

An information distribution system is provided that can distribute various types of information without imposing extra workload on users. This information distribution system includes a server device that can access a profile DB and an information source DB. This server device includes an operation history recorder, a feature extractor, a profiler, an information collector, and an information distributor. Every time a user operates an information device, the server device obtains the operation history of the user. The operation history contains the user ID, the types of operations, and the text information of the handled document. The server device then linguistically analyzes the text information to extract the feature information. After performing weighting on the feature information, the server device registers the feature information in the profile DB. The server device then obtains information from the information source DB, and extracts the profile corresponding to the information from the profiles registered in the profile DB. The server device then distributes the information to the user having the extracted profile.
