Provided is a conductive composition for electrodes, the conductive composition having excellent electrical conductivity and dispersibility. Also provided are: a positive electrode for non-aqueous batteries, the positive electrode using the conductive composition and having low electrode plate resistance and excellent binding properties; and a non-aqueous battery having high energy density, high output characteristics, and high cycle characteristics. The conductive composition for electrodes contains a conductive material, an active material, a binder, and a dispersant, wherein the conductive material contains carbon black and a multi-walled carbon nanotube having a powder resistivity of 0.035 &#x3a9;&#xb7;cm or less as measured under a load of 9.8 MPa, and a median volumetric diameter D50 value, which is as a measure of dispersibility, in the range of 0.3-8 &#x3bc;m The positive electrode which is for non-aqueous batteries and has low electrode plate resistance and excellent binding properties; and the non-aqueous battery having high output characteristics and high cycle characteristics are obtained by using the conductive composition in which the content of the multi-walled carbon nanotube in the conductive material is 3-50 mass %.

Conductive composition for electrodes, and electrode and battery using same

According to one of various aspects of the present invention, a slurry for a flexible electrode contains a component (a) dispersed in an aqueous emulsion. The emulsion includes one or more polymer components selected from the group consisting of acrylic polymers, urethane polymers, fluorine polymers, urea polymers, chloroprene polymers, and butadiene polymers. The emulsion has a pH of 6.5 to 8.0. In the slurry, the total of the polymer component(s) and the component (a) is 20 to 30% by mass. Of the total of the polymer component(s) and the component (a) in the slurry, the polymer component(s) is 60 to 85% by mass, and the component (a) is 15 to 40% by mass. Component (a) is carbon black having a DBP absorption amount under uncompressed conditions of 150 to 300 mL/100 g and a BET specific surface area of 35 to 140 m/g.

A conductive composition for electrode is provided that is excellent in conductivity and dispersibility. Further, an electrode for lithium ion secondary battery with lower plate resistance and a lithium ion secondary battery excellent in rate characteristics are provided that use this conductive composition. A conductive composition for electrode, including: carbon nanofiber with a median diameter D50 value by volume from 0.1 to 8 pm; an active material; and a binder enables production of an electrode for lithium ion secondary battery with lower plate resistance and a lithium ion secondary battery excellent in rate characteristics.

By using CNF excellent in dispersibility, conductivity, and crystallinity, a conductive polymer material having high conductivity even with a low CNF content and a shaped article thereof and a conductive polymer material with a less CNF content for same conductivity and a shaped article thereof are provided. A conductive polymer material with high conductivity is produced by using carbon nanofiber with a median diameter D50 value from 0.1 to 8 &#x3bc;m, powder resistivity of 0.03 &#x3a9;cm or less measured under a load of 9.8 MPa, and D/G from 0.5 to 1.3.

Conductive polymer material and molded article using same

Provided is a method for producing carbon nanofibers having excellent conductivity, crystallinity and dispersibility. A method for producing carbon nanofibers, which uses an activated species mainly composed of cobalt as a catalyst, while using carbon monoxide as a carbon source. The catalyst is obtained by having a carrier, which is composed of an oxide having a specific surface area of 0.01-5 m/g and containing magnesium, support 3-90% by mass of the activated species. By controlling the reaction temperature, the carbon monoxide partial pressure and the gas flow rate of the carbon monoxide, CNF having more excellent conductivity, crystallinity and dispersibility can be produced, thereby obtaining carbon nanofibers having excellent conductivity, crystallinity and dispersibility.
