An engine unit includes an internal combustion engine and a misfire detection device. The misfire detection device includes a rough road traveling determination unit that: (a) determines a rough road traveling state based on a distribution state of a crankshaft rotation speed fluctuation physical quantity acquired by a crankshaft rotation speed fluctuation physical quantity acquisition unit, or (b) includes a vehicle traveling state detection unit for detecting a physical quantity in relation to a vehicle traveling state except the crankshaft rotation speed fluctuation physical quantity, and determines a rough road traveling state based on a detection result obtained by the vehicle traveling state detection unit; and suspends a determination of a misfire in the internal combustion engine based on a determination result obtained by the rough road traveling determination unit.

The present teaching aims to provide: a cam angle sensor fault diagnosis apparatus for straddled vehicle, capable of detecting a fault of a cam angle sensor installed in a straddled vehicle and guessing a fault place; an engine system; and a straddled vehicle. A cam angle sensor fault diagnosis apparatus for straddled vehicle includes: a cam signal receiving unit connected to a signal output line through which a cam angle sensor outputs a cam signal in accordance with the rotation angle, the cam signal receiving unit being configured to receive a cam signal via the signal output line; a state determination unit that determines one or two fault states of the cam angle sensor from a disconnection state, a power supply fault state, and a ground fault state, distinguishably from the other fault states, in accordance with a signal level of a cam signal received by the cam signal receiving unit; and a signal output unit that outputs a fault signal representing the one or two fault states determined by the state determination unit, in such a manner that the fault signal representing the one or two fault states is different from a fault signal representing the other fault states.

Cam angle sensor fault diagnosis apparatus for straddled vehicle, engine system, and straddled vehicle

A fuel injection controller includes an oxygen sensor that responds to an oxygen concentration inside an exhaust passage, and an injection amount control unit programmed to control a fuel injection amount based on the output of the oxygen sensor. The injection amount control unit includes an injection amount correction value computing unit that determines an injection amount correction value based on the output of the oxygen sensor, a short-time learning value computing unit that determines a short-time learning value based on the injection amount correction value, a long-time learning value computing unit that determines a long-time learning value based on the short-time learning value; a feedback correction amount computing unit that computes a feedback correction amount, an injection amount control value computing unit that computes a control value of the fuel injection amount, and a long-time learning value holding unit that holds the long-time learning value.

In a vehicle information management system, a storage includes a storage region arranged to store abnormality data that includes diagnostic data, type information indicating a type of an abnormality, and occurrence number information that indicates the number of occurrences of each abnormality specified by the type information. When the type of an abnormality is specified by an abnormality specifying unit and a new diagnostic data is produced and if the abnormality data of the same type as the specified type is already stored in the storage region in the storage, an updating unit changes the occurrence number information to the latest information and overwrites and saves the diagnostic data in the storage region already stored with the abnormality data of the same type as the specified type.

Vehicle information management system

A vehicle information management system eliminates the need for a large capacity storage and allows an abnormality and a malfunction to be easily specified. An updating unit does not store diagnostic data obtained at the time of an engine stall in a storage if it is determined that the engine stalls is because of a rider's operation of the vehicle, and stores diagnostic data obtained at the time of the engine stall in the storage if it is determined that the engine stall is not attributable to a rider's operation of the vehicle, based on detection results from an operation detector and an engine state detector.

A machine control system for controlling an unstable or transition running condition of a machine which is operable by a causative signal and the performance of which is indicatable by an indicative signal. The control system includes: (a) a model-based control unit for outputting an estimated value of a causative signal when receiving an indicative signal, which model-based control unit undergoes learning based on teacher data; (b) a feedback control unit for providing first teacher data to the model-control unit upon receiving feedback information from the machine; and (c) an anticipatory control unit for providing second teacher data to the model-based control unit. The anticipatory control unit includes: (i) a deviation detection program programmed to determine whether the running condition of the machine deviates from a predetermined stable running condition; and (ii) a compensation formulation program programmed to formulate anticipatory compensations to compensate for deviation of the machine from the predetermined stable running condition based on feedback information received from the machine, output from which program is provided to the model-based control unit as second teacher data.

Method of feed-forward control using control logic with anticipatory learning control

An autonomic system for updating a fuzzy neural network includes a process of calculating an estimated value based on fuzzy inference by using a neural network structure, wherein a parameter to be adjusted or identified by fuzzy inference and outputted from the neural network is made to correspond to coupling loads which are updated by learning, i.e., fuzzy rules and membership functions are adjusted by learning. This system is characterized in that the addition and deletion of fuzzy rules are conducted based on changes in output errors in an autonomic manner, thereby effectively obtaining appropriate numbers of fuzzy rules optimal for an object such as a vehicle engine having strong non-linearity. Fuzzy rules are formed by a combination of membership functions representing variables such as an engine speed and a throttle angle.

Autonomic system for updating fuzzy neural network and control system using the fuzzy neural network

An engine control system includes an inverse model which includes a forward model and a feedback loop, wherein an actuating parameter, such as the quantity of fuel injected from a fuel injector, outputted from the forward model is used as a controlled variable, such as the air-fuel ratio in an exhaust system, inputted into the inverse model through the feedback loop. The forward model has preferably a learning function using condition-indicating factors such as engine speed and throttle angle. Accuracy of the inverse model is improved and appropriate engine control can be realized even during a transient state of the engine.

A model-based control system for controlling a state of an operating subject such as an engine, characterized by forming an inverse model using a forward model and a feedback control system. The subject is modeled using first-order lag elements and dead time, and dead time is removed from the feedback control system. Responsiveness is high not only during a stable state but also during a transient state.
