An object of the present invention is to provide a display device capable of narrowing the area of the frame. In order to achieve this object, the display device according to the present invention has a substrate having a plurality of arranged display elements and a wiring layer of a power source on the peripheral side; a bank layer for mutually separating the display elements; an electrode layer for covering the plurality of display elements and the bank layer; and a sealing substrate for further covering the electrode layer by joining the peripheral portion of the substrate and the sealing portion circling around the periphery via a joining element such as an adhesive; wherein the periphery of the sealing substrate is positioned inside the periphery of the substrate, and the peripheral portion of the electrode layer is connected to the wiring of the power source within the sealing portion.

Display device having a connection area outside the display area

The invention provides power-supply wiring preferable for large displays. An electro-optical device according to the present invention includes a pixel area including electro-optical elements driven by power supplied from power-supply circuits. The electro-optical device includes basic power-supply lines, which receive a power-supply voltage output from the power-supply circuits and which are formed on the upper portion of a substrate, and includes main power-supply lines which intersect the basic power-supply lines and which are formed on the upper portion of the substrate. The power-supply voltage is supplied to the electro-optical elements via the main power-supply lines.

Electro-optical device, matrix substrate, and electronic equipment

A transistor circuit is provided including a driving transistor where conductance between the source and the drain is controlled in response to a supplied voltage, and a compensating transistor where the gate is connected to one of the source and the drain, the compensating transistor being connected so as to supply input signals to the gate of the driving transistor through the source and drain. In a transistor circuit where conductance control in a driving transistor is carried out in response to the voltage of input signals, it is possible to control the conductance by using input signals of a relatively low voltage and a variance in threshold characteristics of driving transistors is compensated. With this transistor circuit, a display panel that can display picture images with reduced uneven brightness is achieved.

An active matrix substrate is provided which does not cause reductions in the brightness of electroluminescence elements, and which comprises appropriate peripheral circuitry occupying a small area. The active matrix substrate comprises peripheral circuits to supply current to EL elements provided for each pixel, and corresponding to EL elements, and further comprises a holding element (C) which holds a control voltage, a first active element (T) connected to the holding element (C) and which supplies current to a light-emitting portion (OLED) based on a control voltage, and a second active element (T) connected to the holding element (C) and which controls the charging and discharging of the holding element. In particular, the second active element (T) is configured as a multiple-control-terminal type active element. As a result, there are no fluctuations in the programmed current.

An electro-optical device that drives each of plural pixels individually arranged in two dimensions so as to display information, is provided with a group of pixels displaying the information within an effective display region among the plural pixels arranged in two dimensions. A group of plural pseudo-pixels that do not contribute to the display of the information are located adjacent to a group of pixels within the effective display region. A bank layer separates a pixel in the group of the plural pseudo-pixels from a pixel in the group of pixels in the effective display region, and shields light leaked from a space between pixels located adjacently each other within the effective display region.

The invention provides a circuit substrate including an electrostatic-breakdown-protection circuit efficient for an EL display panel or the like. A substrate includes a common electrode formed on the perimeter of the substrate, multiple terminals formed on the substrate, one or more first resistances formed between adjacent terminals, and one or more second resistances formed between the terminals and the common electrode. The terminal is connected to both the first resistance and the second resistance. The first resistance has a resistance value greater than the second resistance.
