The polycyclic pentafluorosulfanylbenzene compound is a novel compound and can be produced by the process industrially advantageously. Disclosed is a commercially suitable method for producing a 1-substituted-5-acylimidazole compound. A 1-substituted-5-acylimidazole compound is produced with a high position selectivity by reacting an N-substituted amidine compound or a salt thereof with a ketone compound in the presence of a base.
