A cover for an internal combustion engine is configured to be attached to an engine main body so as to cover a timing chain or a timing belt. The cover for the internal combustion engine includes insertion holes configured to receive a crankshaft or a camshaft. The cover for the internal combustion engine includes a first member made of a hard plastic and a second member made of a material different from the hard plastic. The first member is produced by insert molding with the second member embedded in the first member. A periphery of at least one of the insertion holes in the second member includes a joint surface that is joined to the first member. The joint surface includes annular grooves surrounding the insertion hole, the annular grooves being arranged in a radial direction of the insertion hole.

Cover for internal combustion engine

A chain cover includes a first member, which is made of a hard plastic, and a second member, which is made of a material different from the hard plastic. The first member is formed by insert molding with the second member as an insert. A first joint surface is formed in a peripheral portion around an insertion hole. The first joint surface is joined to the first member. The first joint surface includes a first joint portion, which includes a lattice-shaped recess portion, and a second joint portion, which includes grooves. The grooves extend in a direction in which the peripheral portion extends, while being arranged in an intersecting direction, which intersects with the extending direction. The second joint portion is provided to be closer to a space adjacent to the peripheral portion than the first joint portion.

A chain cover includes a first member, which is made of a hard plastic, and a second member, which is made of a material different from the hard plastic. The first member includes a back face, which faces an engine main body. The second member is joined to the first member. Only the back face of the first member includes a groove, which receives a seal member. The seal member provides a seal between the first member and the engine main body.

An oil mist separator includes a case. The case includes an inlet, an outlet, a gas passage, and an oil discharge portion. The case includes a first member located in an upper portion of the case, a second member located in a lower portion of the case, and a third member partitioning the first member and the second member. The first member, the second member, and the third member are welded to each other in a stacked state. The gas passage includes an upper passage defined by the first member and the third member, a lower passage defined by the second member and the third member, and a connection passage. The connection passage connects the upper passage to the lower passage at a portion in the case corresponding to an end of the case on one side.

Oil mist separator

A PCV valve coupling structure that couples a PCV valve to an internal combustion engine is employed in the PCV valve used to adjust a gas flow area of a blow-by gas passage. Blow-by gas in the internal combustion engine flows to an intake system of the internal combustion engine. In the PCV valve coupling structure, the PCV valve is coupled to the internal combustion engine in a non-removable manner.

A chain cover is configured to cover a timing chain that transmits rotation of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine to a camshaft. The chain cover includes a crankshaft-side opening forming portion that defines a crankshaft-side opening into which the crankshaft is inserted, and a general portion that is a section different from the crankshaft-side opening forming portion. The crankshaft-side opening forming portion is made of a first material. The general portion is made of a second material. The first material and the second material are different from each other.

A positive crankcase ventilation system includes a positive crankcase ventilation valve, a coupling part, and a plate member. The coupling part is configured to couple the positive crankcase ventilation valve and an internal combustion engine. The plate member is attached to the coupling part on an opposite side from a side where the coupling part and the internal combustion engine contact each other. A portion of the plate member is bent in a direction toward a base of a hose insertion port provided on the positive crankcase ventilation valve, and another portion of the plate member is bent in a direction toward a side wall of an attachment portion of the positive crankcase ventilation valve provided on the coupling part.

Positive crankcase ventilation system

A case for an oil mist separator comprises an inlet and an outlet through which blow-by gas flows, a separation section for separating oil mist contained in the blow-by gas, and an oil discharge section disposed at a bottom portion of the case. The oil discharge section includes a first discharge part having a first discharge hole for discharging the separated oil, and a second discharge part surrounding the first discharge hole. The second discharge part includes a reservoir for storing the oil discharged from the first discharge hole, and a second discharge hole provided at a bottom portion of the reservoir. The second discharge part further includes a passage providing fluid communication between the inside and the outside of the second discharge part.

An oil mist separator includes a housing and an oil separating part which separates oil mist in blow-by gas. The oil separating part is composed of a first oil separating part and a second oil separating part. The housing is provided inside with a partition wall which defines chambers formed for the respective oil separating parts, and second nozzles which jet out blow-by gas are provided in a second partition wall which defines a second chamber in which the downstream-side second oil separating part is provided. The second nozzles can serve, for example, as passages for discharging the oil separated by the second oil separating part toward a drain pipe which is provided in a first chamber.

The oil mist separator separates oil from blow-by gas which flows through a gas flow passage. A chamber, which is partitioned from the gas flow passage including a gas introduction port, is provided between a cylinder head cover and a baffle plate. A first guide wall, which extends with a downward inclination toward the chamber so as to cover the gas introduction port and the chamber, is provided above the gas introduction port and the chamber. A drain hole for discharging the oil within the chamber is formed in the baffle plate.

An oil separator includes a case, electrode plates, filters, and a power supply unit. The electrode plates are arranged in the case with a space in between such that any two adjacent electrode plates face each other. The filters are made of an electrically insulating material and each arranged between any two adjacent electrode plates. The power supply unit is connected to the electrode plates and applies voltage between any two adjacent electrode plates, thereby creating a potential difference between the adjacent electrode plates. The filling factor of each filter is in a range from 0.005 to 0.03. The voltage applied between any two adjacent electrode plates by the power supply unit is in a range from 0.5 to 5 kV. The distance between any two adjacent electrode plates is in a range from 3 to 20 mm.

Oil separator

An oil separator includes a case and introduces blow-by gas of an internal combustion engine into the case. The oil separator then separates oil from the blow-by gas and discharges the separated oil from the case. The case incorporates electrode plates, which are arranged at intervals and face each other. A filter is arranged between any adjacent two of the electrode plates. The filter is formed of fibers, which are made of an electrically insulating first material, or polyester. A potential difference is created between the electrode plates.

An oil separator includes a separation chamber for separating oil mist from blow-by gas of an internal combustion engine and a case in which the separation chamber is formed. The oil separator further includes an introduction pipe, which is connected to the case and introduces blow-by gas into the separation chamber, and a discharge pipe, which is connected to the case and discharges blow-by gas that has passed through the separation chamber. An inlet inner wall portion, which is formed by a part of the discharge pipe that includes the inlet, protrudes further downward than an outlet inner wall portion, which is formed by a part of the discharge pipe that includes the outlet. A step is formed at the boundary between the inlet inner wall portion and the outlet inner wall portion to prevent oil from moving along the inner wall of the discharge pipe toward the outlet.

Oil separator for separating oil from blow-by gas of internal combustion engine

An oil mist separator includes: a separator body having a gas flow path; a gas introduction part introducing the blow-by gas into the separator body; a gas discharge part discharging the blow-by gas from the separator body; a separation unit separating oil from the blow-by gas; dams provided on the bottom wall of the separator body downstream of the separation unit in the gas flow path and configured to block the oil separated from flowing to the downstream side; and an oil discharge part provided upstream of the dams in the gas flow path and configured to discharge the oil separated from the separator body, wherein the dams are formed along the gas flow path so as to alternately extend from the pair of side walls, and the dams extend such that tip ends of the dams are located beyond a center of the gas flow path.
