Techniques for managing a disaster recovery failover policy are disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for managing a disaster recovery failover policy comprising identifying which of several disaster recovery sites are available for disaster recovery of host data, determining a configuration of each disaster recovery site identified, performing at least one test on each disaster recovery site identified, calculating a result from the at least one test performed on each disaster recovery site, and updating the disaster recovery failover policy based on the determined configuration and the calculated result.

Techniques for managing a disaster recovery failover policy

A computer-implemented method for distributing replication tasks within computing clusters may include (1) identifying a primary volume that is replicated to a secondary volume, (2) identifying a computing cluster with access to the primary volume that includes at least a first node and a second node, (3) receiving a request to write data to the primary volume, (4) logging, via the first node, the request to write the data to the primary volume to a replication log, and (5) using the replication log to replicate, via the second node, the data to the secondary volume. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for distributing replication tasks within computing clusters

Various systems and methods can provide application-aware high availability of virtual machines. For example, one method involves receiving information indicating a state of an application executing in a virtual machine. The information is received by a computing device implementing a virtual machine monitoring agent that is monitoring the virtual machine. In response to receiving the information, the method determines whether the virtual machine should be restarted, based at least in part on the state of the application executing in the virtual machine. The method then generates information indicating whether the virtual machine should be restarted, in response to making the determination.

Providing application-aware high availability of virtual machines

A method and apparatus for achieving high availability in a computer cluster is provided. In one embodiment, a method for failing over a software application to a virtual machine from a physical computing environment comprises processing at least one virtual machine file at a backup computer, wherein the at least one virtual machine file is preconfigured with a software application that is hosted by a computer cluster and in response to an occurrence a fault at the computer cluster, accessing the at least one virtual machine file to operate the software application.

Method and apparatus for achieving high availability for an application in a computer cluster

A method and apparatus for proactively monitoring data center health data to achieve workload management and high availability is provided. In one embodiment, a method for processing application health data to improve application performance within a cluster includes accessing at least one of performance data or event information associated with at least one application to determine application health data and examining the application health data to identify an application of the at least one application to migrate.
