A server apparatus operates a content sale site for selling a digital content and connects communicably via a communication network to a client apparatus which may purchase a digital content for use in an electronic music apparatus. In the server apparatus, a communicating section communicates with the client apparatus for receiving therefrom order information specifying a digital content to be purchased, and machine ID information designating machine IDs of electronic music apparatuses which are intended to use the specified digital content. A licensing section embeds the received machine ID information in the digital content specified by the client apparatus so as to license the specified digital content to the electronic music apparatuses designated by the client apparatus. A providing section provides the digital content embedded with the machine ID information to the client apparatus such that the provided digital content is made available exclusively by the designated electronic musical apparatuses according to the embedded machine ID information.

Various arpeggio patterns are provided for an automatic arpeggio performance in an electronic musical apparatus, in which arpeggio notes are sounded in various timbres and appropriate arpeggio types are selected for the respective timbres. In executing a music performance on the basis of supplied performance data, a feeling of swing can be imparted to the performance by delaying tone-generation start time of a tone, based on the performance data, at each predetermined beat such as upbeat. In this case, if an original tone-generation end time of the tone to be delayed is ahead of tone-generation start time of a next tone, control is executed to automatically change a duration of the tone in such a manner that actual tone-generation end time of the delayed note comes ahead of the tone-generation start time of the next tone. In this manner, the delay control can be properly executed on staccato performance data without losing characteristics of staccato. If, on the other hand, the original tone-generation end time of the tone to be delayed is behind the tone-generation start time of the next tone, control is executed to automatically change the duration of the tone in such a manner that the actual tone-generation end time of the delayed tone comes behind the tone-generation start time of the next tone. In this manner, the delay control can be properly executed on legato performance data without losing characteristics of legato.

Device and method for executing control to shift tone-generation start

In a musical system, a transmitting device transmits performance data, a first receiving device is connectable to the transmitting device to receive and pass the performance data, and a second receiving device is connectable subsequently to the first receiving device to receive therefrom the performance data. The transmitting device operates to transmit first performance data arranged to drive a first sound source to generate musical tones and to transmit second performance data arranged to drive a second sound source of a type different than the first sound source. The first receiving device operates if the same has the first sound source for admitting the first performance data so as to drive the first sound source and for issuing a control message to the second receiving device. The second receiving device having the second sound source operates in response to the control message to prohibit admission of the second performance data to thereby disable the second sound source.

Electronic musical system controlling chain of plural sound sources

A musical tone synthesizing apparatus is used to synthesize musical-tone waveforms on the basis of simulation of a tone-generation mechanism of a musical instrument. Herein, a drive signal is generated based on an excitation envelope signal in accordance with a manipulation of performance made by a human operator (e.g., performer) and is then converted to an excitation signal in accordance with an operating behavior of the musical instrument. For example, the operating behavior indicates a behavior of a reed portion of a wind instrument to which breath is blown in; or it indicates a behavior of a string of a stringed instrument which is striken or plucked. The excitation signal is input to a physical-model sound source realizing resonating-body/vibrating-body models. The physical-model sound source performs calculations, simulating the tone-generation mechanism of the musical instrument, on the excitation signal to produce a musical tone signal. An amplitude envelope signal as well as an effect are imparted to the musical tone signal, thus providing a synthesized musical tone output. The excitation envelope signal and amplitude envelope signal are controlled in level in a variety of ways in response to an instruction to generate a next note during generation of a current note. For example, formation of an attack portion is started to follow a current level of the excitation envelope signal, whilst the amplitude envelope signal is damped in level to a damp level, then, formation of an attack portion is started to follow the damp level of the amplitude envelope signal. Thanks to the controlling of the envelope signals, it is possible to realize special techniques of performance such as one-note-by-one-note crescendo without causing delay in generation of notes.

Musical tone synthesizing apparatus

A pitch-asynchronous-type musical tone creating apparatus, provided for an electronic musical instrument, comprises at least a waveform memory, a low-pass filter and an interpolation section. Waveform samples, stored by the waveform memory, are sequentially read out, so that the interpolation section performs interpolation process on the waveform samples to create interpolation samples. Musical-tone parameters, such as a tone-color characteristic and an envelope characteristic, are imparted to the interpolation samples so as to create musical-tone samples. When performing reading operations on the waveform memory at a high speed which causes skipping of the reading operations, certain frequency components, which cause occurrence of folding noises, are incorporated into the interpolation samples. Those frequency components are removed from the waveform samples, read from the waveform memory, by the low-pass filter whose cut-off frequency is determined responsive to a frequency number. The frequency number is set responsive to a pitch designated for a musical tone to be produced. The low-pass filter is activated only when the frequency number is larger than a certain number so that skipping of the reading operations may occur. The musical-tone samples are accumulated with respect to a plurality of channels which operate in a time-division manner, so that musical tone signals, corresponding to musical tones to be produced, are created based on the musical-tone samples accumulated.

Musical tone creating apparatus for electronic musical instrument

In a device which excites an oscillating signal in a closed loop containing a delay circuit and a filter so as to synthesize a sound of pitch corresponding to the total delay time in the closed loop, arithmetic operations are performed in the closed loop, in response to a change in a color controlling coefficient caused during generation of the sound, for interpolating delayed output signals from plural points in the loop having different delay time. This interpolation compensates for a variation in the signal delay time in the closed loop resultant from the change in the filter coefficient, to allow the entire closed loop to provide such a total delay time that excites oscillation corresponding to a desired pitch. The closed loop also includes first and second filters. When generation of the sound is to be started, the delay time adjustment or pitch modification is performed by using, as the first filter, an all-pass filter that has the advantage of having no adverse effect on the frequency characteristic of sound. During generation of the sound, so as to avoid the adverse effect resultant from a variation in the coefficient of the all-pass filter, variable control of the delay time or variation control of the pitch is performed by using, as the second filter, a low-pass filter that functions as a delay interpolator.

The musical tone synthesizing apparatus utilizes a loop circuit receptive of an input signal for looping the same with a given delay time to produce an output signal representative of a musical tone. The loop circuit includes a delay element for delaying the input signal and a feedback path for feeding back the delayed input signal to the delay element.
