An image processing method is performed by an image supply device storing image data and an image output device performing image processing with respect to the image data, which are connected via a communication path through which the image data is communicated. A control information item including a script for image processing, which is described by a markup language, is communicated between the image supply device and the image output device. The image data is transmitted to the image output device, based on the script.

Electronic data distribution apparatus and distribution method

The present invention relates to a method of driving an active-matrix type of liquid crystal display device that has a plurality of row electrodes to which a scanning signal is applied, a plurality of column electrodes to which a data signal is applied, and a plurality of picture elements (pixels) formed at a plurality of intersections between these row and column electrodes, each of these pixels comprising a liquid crystal layer and a two-terminal element having non-linear resistance characteristics connected in series therewith by means of applying a voltage of a difference signal between a scanning signal and a data signal to the pixels. A compensatory voltage is applied to each pixel immediately before a data write period during which the liquid crystal layer of the pixel is charged with a data charge voltage corresponding to a display gradation. This compensatory voltage is a voltage that charges the liquid crystal layer with a compensatory charge voltage of a polarity opposite to that of the data charge voltage. The relationship between the two voltages is such that when the magnitude of the data charge voltage is large, that of the compensatory charge voltage is small; when the magnitude of the data charge voltage is small, that of the compensatory charge voltage is large. This reduces the occurrence of afterimages that are caused by I-V characteristic shift in a non-linear two-terminal element.

Method of driving liquid crystal display device that reduces afterimages

In a method for driving an active matrix type liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal panel having the structure that a set of liquid crystal layers and two-terminal active layers are connected in series between a set of column electrodes and a set of row electrodes, a display operation being carried out by applying a difference signal between each column electrode and each row electrode, the difference signal is set so as to have a voltage having an inverse characteristic to the I-V characteristic of the two-terminal active element and is applied between the column and row electrodes to thereby depress occurrence of flicker. In addition, within a period except for a selection period for which an actual display operation is carried out in the liquid crystal panel, the difference signal having amplitude voltage equal to or above the maximum amplitude voltage set for the display operation is applied between the column and row electrode sets for a predetermined period to thereby prevent degradation of display quality due to the shift characteristic of the two-terminal active element which has been driven, and due to the asymmetry of the voltage-current characteristic of the two-terminal active element between the positive and negative polarity regions thereof.

Method of driving an active matrix type liquid crystal display

A method of activating a matrix liquid crystal display formed with column electrodes intersecting row electrodes and liquid crystal material therebetween in which liquid crystal pixels are defined at the intersections of the row and column electrodes. The column electrodes are provided with voltage waveforms of high and low magnitude corresponding to display data. The row electrodes are supplied with a sequential scanning signal of activating magnitude. During one data output period, a signal for the data about the selected rows is delivered with one polarity and then switches to the opposite polarity N number of times (where N is a positive integer) during the same data output period to prevent crosstalk in the column electrodes.

Method of driving a liquid crystal display device

A video display for a liquid crystal display and a method for displaying a complex video signal thereon is provided. A line memory stores one line of video data of a complex video signal. A field memory stores one field of video data of the complex video signal. A signal driving circuit generates a signal driving signal in response to the video data stored in the line memory and the field memory. A multiplexer selectively transmits the video date from the line memory and field memory to the signal driving circuit. One horizontal period of the video signal is sequentially written in the line memory. During the first half of the horizontal period of the video signal, video data of the previous field which is stored in the field memory is transferred to the signal driving circuit. During the second half of the horizontal period, the video data stored in the line memory is transferred to the signal driving circuit. The signal driving circuit generates scanning driving signals for the liquid crystal display, each signal being divided into an odd and even field.
