An imaging systemincludes an imaging control device, an imaging device, and a light emitting device. The imaging control deviceis provided for controlling the imaging deviceand the light emitting device, and includes an evaluation unit, a light reception adjustment unit, and a light emission adjustment unit. The evaluation unitevaluates respective brightnesses of the first image data and the second image data that are output from the imaging device. The light reception adjustment unitadjusts any of an exposure time, a diaphragm value, and a gain that are to be used when the imaging devicecaptures an image, based on a brightness evaluation result. The light emission adjustment unitcauses the light emitting deviceto emit light of either wavelength band of the first wavelength band and the second wavelength band, and adjusts a light emission intensity of the light, based on an evaluation result.

To reduce a quantity of uselessly consumed ink when an ink jet head is recoverably activated, the capacity of an ink path communicated with a group of ejecting ports having a small flow rate coefficient is determined to be smaller than that of an ink path communicated with a group of ejecting ports having a large flow rate coefficient. While all of plural groups of, ejecting ports are fully covered with a common recovering cap with the aid of sucking means, ink is, sucked from the plural groups of ejecting ports. When the ink remaining in the region extending from the plural groups of ejecting ports to predetermined positions in a plurality of ink paths communicated with the plural groups of ejecting ports is discharged, ink discharging positions are dislocated to predetermined positions in a plurality of ink paths to positionally coincide with the predetermined positions in the substantially same timing relationship after ejection recovering treatment starts to be conducted.

An ink jet recording apparatus for recording by discharging ink from a plurality of recording means to a recording material comprises a plurality of ink paths which are communicated with the recording means and an exchangeable ink tank for retaining ink to be discharged. The ink paths are arranged in a given number corresponding to the number of the recording means, and further, the end portion on the ink tank side is arranged in a position facing one or plural ink supply ports of a first ink tank having ink retaining units to supply ink to such a given number of recording means. This apparatus also comprise a second ink tank having ink retaining units in a number smaller than the aforesaid given number. Here, the second ink tank is provided with means for sealing at least one end portion of the aforesaid ink paths on the ink tank side, which supply ink having colors different from that of the ink contained in the second ink tank. With such structure, an ink jet recording apparatus can install an ink tank whose capacity is larger for a specific ink without making the apparatus larger, and also, prevent ink from being dried in the ink paths where no ink tank is installed.
