A composite material including a covalent organic framework (COF) single crystal having a major axis length of larger than 120 μm or a COF polycrystal including a plurality of the single crystals, and at least one heat-storage compound. The heat-storage compound is a compound that generates heat or absorbs heat by adsorption to or desorption from the COF single crystal. Also, a heat dissipation/storage member containing the composite material as a heat storage/dissipation material a COF single crystal having a major axis length of larger than 120 μm, and a method for producing a COF single crystal by crystallizing COF raw material compounds via a solution containing an ionic liquid or an organic salt and an equilibrium adjusting agent to grow a COF single crystal.

There is provided an optical wavelength conversion element with a good temporal stability and such a high optical wavelength conversion efficiency that the element is viable even under sunlight or similar, low intensity light. Owing to these properties, the element is suited for use in solar cells, photocatalysts, photocatalytic hydrogen and oxygen generating devices, photon upconversion filters, and like articles. An interference-signal removing apparatus is provided for removing narrow-band interference signals from input signals including wide-band desired signals and the narrow-band interference signals, which suppresses that even desired signals are removed. The interference-signal removing apparatus includes an extraction section for extracting interference signals from input signals, a removal circuit for removing extracted interference signals from input signals, an extraction control section for controlling extraction of interference signals by the extraction section in accordance with the removal result, and an extraction-amount suppression section for suppressing the interference signal amount to be extracted in accordance with input signals.

A magnetic disk apparatus has a circuit for detecting the recorded position of servo information, used for aligning a magnetic head, on a target track of a magnetic disk. The circuit discriminates the track's data area and the servo information area by determining an amplitude difference between detection signals equal or close to a discrimination frequency and the harmonic component of the discrimination frequency. If the amplitude difference exceeds a predetermined value, a servo area is discriminated. If the value is lower than the threshold, a data area is discriminated.

A device for reading servo information from a medium in a buried servo magnetic head system. The device consists of a coil for reading/writing data in the medium and a coil for reading the low-frequency servo signal, both coils being wound around the same core. The servo coil has a greater number of turns than the read/write coil which results in the servo signal having a lower resonance frequency than the read/write signal. By obtaining a separate read/write signal and a servo signal produced from a single core in a single head, physical positional errors are avoided without sacrificing the optimization of the separate signals.

A servo protection circuit comprises a sync detector for generating a sync pulse in response to a sync code prerecorded in each sector of a magnetic disk to permit synchronism to be reestablished between the disk and the servo protect pulse at the beginning of each sector. In response to the sync pulse, a servo protect pulse is generated having a duration variable with the interval between successive ones of the sync pulse so that servo protection begins and ends with the beginning and ending points of each prerecorded servocontrol field. The servo protection circuit includes a delay circuit for introducing a shorter delay time of constant duration to the sync pulse to determine the trailing edge of the servo protect pulse and introducing a longer delay time of constant duration to the sync pulse to determine the leading edge of the servo protect pulse.
