Herein provided are a polypropylene resin composition which comprises (A) a polypropylene, (B) an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymeric rubber having a Mooney viscosity, ML.sub.1+4 (100.degree. C.), ranging from 5 to 50 and an iodine value of not less than 15, the content of the component (B) ranging from 10 to 50% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the components (A) and (B), and optionally (C) an inorganic filler in an amount ranging from 0 to 40 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the sum of the components (A) and (B); a coating method which comprises the steps of applying a primer coating to a molded product obtained by molding the foregoing polypropylene resin composition or irradiating the molded product with plasma without degreasing and washing the product with a halogen atom-containing organic solvent and then applying a top coat to the product; and a coating method which comprises the steps of degreasing and washing a molded product obtained by molding the foregoing polypropylene resin composition and then applying a top coat to the product without applying a primer coating to the molded product or irradiating the molded product with plasma. The coated film obtained according to the foregoing methods has good bond strength to the molded product.

Polypropylene resin composition and method for coating molded products

A fiber excellent in strength and having an average size of 10,000-0.1 denier can be obtained by extruding a new material composed mainly of a polypropylene having a syndiotactic pentad fraction of 0.7 or more and optionally stretching the resulting extruded material. By using as the raw material a composition consisting of two kinds of polypropylenes each having an intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.1 or .eta..sub.2, the log(.eta..sub.2 /.eta..sub.1) being more than 0.05 or less than -0.05, and a syndiotactic pentad traction of 0.7 or more at a weight ratio of 95:5-5:95 or a composition consisting of at least 50 parts by weight of a syndiotactic polypropylene having the intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.1 and a syndiotactic pentad fraction of 0.7 or above and at most 50 parts by weight of an isotactic polypropylene having the intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.2, the extrudability is improved and the fiber stretching conditions are broadened.

Process of making polyprophylene fibers

A fiber excellent in strength and having an average size of 10,000-0.1 denier can be obtained by extruding a raw material composed mainly of a polypropylene having a syndiotactic pentad fraction of 0.7 or more and optionally stretching the resulting extruded material. By using as the raw material a composition consisting of two kinds of polypropylenes each having an intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.1 or .eta..sub.2, the log(.eta..sub.2 /.eta..sub.1) being more than 0.05 or less than -0.05, and a syndiotactic pentad fraction of 0.7 or more at a weight ratio of 95:5-5:95 or a composition consisting of at least 50 parts by weight of a syndiotactic polypropylene having the intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.1 and a syndiotactic pentad fraction of 0.7 or above and at most 50 parts by weight of an isotactic polypropylene having the intrinsic viscosity .eta..sub.2, the extrudability is improved and the fiber stretching conditions are broadened.

A polypropylene resin composition which is excellent in transparency and which shows very low pH reduction of the extract obtained in a promoted hot water-extraction test of a polypropylene resin which has been irradiated with radiant rays for sterilization. The polypropylene resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a polypropylene resin, 0.01 to 1.0 part by weight of a metal diarylphosphate represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## (wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; M represents an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; n is an integer of 1 or 2; and A represents an alkylidene group); and 0,001 to 1.0 part by weight of a hydroxide of an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or an element of the aluminum group. The polypropylene resin composition is suitable for use in making medical instruments, containers for foods or the like.

A polypropylene resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polypropylene resin, 0.01 to 1.0 part by weight of 1.3, 2.4-di-benzylidene sorbitol and 0.005 to 1.0 part by weight of talc. The components of the polypropylene resin composition are not guided and do not escape from the composition even when it is immersed in hot water. The composition is excellent in transparency and products obtained by blow molding of the composition are also excellent in transparency.

The present invention relates to a polypropylene composition useful as an adhesive comprising a modified polypropylene resin graft-modified with from about 0.01 wt. % to about 2 wt. % of a radical-polymerizable unsaturated compound and a crystalline propylene/ethylene block copolymer containing from about 10 wt. % to about 50 wt. % of a propylene/ethylene random copolymer having an ethylene content of from about 20 wt. % to about 90 wt. %. The resin composition is particularly suitable for bonding a polypropylene resin layer and an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer layer, and a polypropylene resin layer and a polyamide resin layer.

Disclosed herein is a polypropylene-base resin composition obtained by heating at a temperature of 170.degree. C.-280.degree. C. a mixture containing a crystalline ethylene-propylene block copolymer having a specific composition, an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber having a specific composition and viscosity, an inorganic filler having a specific particle size, and an organic peroxide, all in specified amounts. The thus-obtained polypropylene-base resin composition has high molding fluidity and are inexpensive and their moldings have excellent low-temperature impact resistance and paintability along with high stiffness. They are thus suitable for use in the production of large moldings such as automobile bumpers, fenders and body sidemembers.
