This invention is to provide a paper bulking promoter with which a highly bulky sheet can be obtained without impairing paper strength. Namely, this invention provides a process for producing a bulky paper, comprising the step of making paper from pulp in the presence of a bulking promoter comprising a cationic compound.

Paper bulking promoter

According to the present invention, a bulky sheet can be obtained without reducing the effect of a sizing agent. Thus, an ester compound having the melting point of not more than 100&deg; C. selected from (A) an ester compound of a polyhydric alcohol and a fatty acid and (B) an ester compound of a polyhydric alcohol and a fatty acid further including from more than 0 mole to less than 12 moles on the average of C oxyalkylene groups per 1 mole of the said ester compound is used as a paper bulking promoter.

This invention provides a paper bulking promoter with which a highly bulky sheet can be obtained without impairing paper strength. Namely, this invention provides a process for producing a bulky paper, having the step of making paper from pulp in the presence of a bulking promoter having at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a cationic compound, an amine compound, an acid salt of an amine compound, an amphoteric compound, an amide compound, a quaternary ammonium salt, and an imidazoline derivative.

A deinking method for obtaining regenerated pulp of high brightness is provided. One or more of deinking agents selected from (a-1) to (a-2) given below are used, and a deinking step is carried out, in which a washing step is carried out at treating temperatures from 40 to 80.degree. C.;

Method for deinking

The present invention is directed to a deinking agent with which a high-quality pulp sheet having a low Eric number can be obtained. The deinking agent for wastepaper reclamation comprises (a) an alkylene oxide adduct of an ester prepared from a dimer acid and/or polymer acid obtained from an unsaturated fatty acid having a specific number of carbon atoms, and an alcohol having a specific number of carbon atoms at a specific molar ratio, and (b) a higher fatty acid and/or higher fatty acid soap having a specific number of carbon atoms, provided that the (a)/(b) weight ratio is 95/5 to 60/40.

Wastepaper reclaiming deinking agent

A deinking method which comprises adding a specified nonionic surfactant having a specified solubility parameter as an essential component, during in the pulping step (the preceding step) and in any of the subsequent steps (the succeeding step). By use of the deinking surfactant composition and the deinking method of the present invention, an excellent deinking performance, including an elevated whiteness, a decrease in the number of unliberated large ink spots and an improved defoaming property of the flotation reject, can be achieved in deinking waste papers, in particular, waste OA papers and blends containing thereof.

Deinking composition and deinking method

The present invention aims at developing a deinking method applicable to the deinking of, for example, waste OA (office automation) paper and telephone directories, whereby a deinked pulp having a high whiteness and little contamination with large ink spots and unliberated ink can be obtained. The object of the present invention can be achieved by deinking, for example, waste OA paper or telephone directories by using a deinking composition containing as an effective component a reaction mixture (III) obtained by conducting the addition reaction of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide with a mixture (I) comprising a fat and oil (a) and a mono- to hexahydric alcohol (b) and/or with a transesterification mixture (II) obtained by conducting the transesterification reaction of a fat and oil (a) with a mono- to hexahydric alcohol (b), in such a manner that the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to propylene oxide which are used as starting materials ranges from 0.8 to 1.2 and that the molar number of ethylene oxide which is used for the addition reaction ranges from 50 to 100 mol per mole of the fat and oil (a).

Deinking method

A deinking composition for use in the reclamation of waste paper consisting essentially of a mixture of higher fatty acids having 8 to 24 carbon atoms, or salts thereof, wherein the average carbon atom number of said fatty acids in said mixture ranges from 12.7 to 21.5, and wherein the content of higher fatty acids having 20 to 24 carbon atoms or salts thereof, ranges from 9.6 to 70.6% by weight, said mixture having an iodine value (IV) of not greater than 45.

Deinking method and deinking composition

A deinking composition which shows a good deinking performance, a good defoaming property and excellent operation characteristics whereby a deinked pulp having a high whiteness and little contamination with the total remaining ink can be obtained in the reclamation of waste papers by flotation, washing or a combination procedure thereof and wherein the deinking composition comprises a reaction mixture (II), as a deinking agent, obtained by the addition reaction of alkylene oxide (D) with a mixture (I) comprising a fat and oil (A) which is constituted with a mixture of higher fatty acids (a) comprising fatty acids having 8 to 24 carbon atoms; having an average carbon atom number of from 12.7 to 22.5; containing from 9.6 to 70.6% by weight of higher fatty acids having 20 to 24 carbon atoms and having an iodine value (IV) of 70 or less and glycerol (b-1), and/or, a transesterification reaction mixture (B) obtained by reacting the fat and oil (A) with glycerol (b-2), and at least one mono- to tetradecahydric alcohol (C).
