To secure a large space that can be utilized effectively above an air cleaner, a low-deck vehicleis constructed to mount an engine shaped like a letter V in the fore-and-aft direction under a low-deck and an air cleaner. The air cleaner is adapted to be capable of being maintained and inspected from the side of the vehicle. A filter element is provided in the air cleaner, and is attachable and detachable by a lid member on the side of the air cleaner. An inspection lid opposing the lid member is provided on a vehicle body cover covering the air cleaner. A space for arranging vehicle accessories such as a fuel tank is provided above the air cleaner.

Air cleaner and air intake structures for low-deck vehicle

A low floor vehicle is a scooter-type motorcycle in which a power unit with a longitudinal V-type engine is mounted below a low floor. The power unit is substantially U-shaped when the power unit is viewed from the top by configuring the transmission unit of the power unit so that the transmission unit is connected to the engine on one side of the V-type engine, is extended backward on one side of the vehicle and drives a chain drive mechanism so as to drive a rear wheel from the other side of the vehicle in the vicinity of a pivot of a swing arm for the rear wheel. A first exhaust pipe connected to a rear cylinder in a bank of the V-type engine is extended backward from the cylinder, the rear end is extended downward via space which is an opening substantially U-shaped when the opening is viewed from the top, the lower end is extended backward and the rear end is connected to a second exhaust pipe connected to a front cylinder in the bank of the V-type engine.

Two front and rear helmets are to be contained in a container box without increasing the height of a seat. In a two-wheeled motor vehicle, a container box extending in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body is disposed above a rear wheel, and a seat is disposed above the container box. A bottom plate of the container box is formed in an approximately inverse-V shape when viewed from the side. The container box includes a forward downwardly slanting face and a rearward downwardly slanting face. Two helmets Hf and Hr can be received in front and rear positions within the container box, by placing them on the forward downwardly slanting face and a rearward downwardly slanting, respectively.

A scooter type motorcycle is provided for improving a high speed travelling operation by forming a rear wheel supporting member, being a separate body from an internal combustion engine, in a freely swingable manner, for realizing efficient arrangement of parts, and for securing large spaces for floors. In a scooter type motorcycle having lower deck type floors, the scooter type motorcycle includes an internal combustion engine arranged rearwardly of the floors and on a downward side of a seat, and a rear wheel supported via a supporting member which is swingable independent of the internal combustion engine.
