An ocular optical system includes a light guiding prism that guides image light from a display element and an emission portion that emits the image light guided by the light guiding prism. The light guiding prism includes a plurality of sides arranged to surround a light path of the image light, and a reflection surface off which the image light is reflected to the emission portion. The plurality of sides include a first side that is arranged on an opposite side of a first plane including first and second optical axes and that is situated between the emission portion and the reflection surface, wherein the first optical axis is a portion of the image light before the image light is reflected off the reflection surface, and the second optical axis is a portion of the image light after the image light is reflected off the reflection surface.

Attachable image display device and ocular optical system

A light-guiding prism includes a first optical surface which is a surface of incidence on which image light from a display element is incident, and a second optical surface, a third optical surface, a fourth optical surface, and a fifth optical surface which are at least four optical surfaces disposed to surround an optical path of the image light that is incidence from the first optical surface. A sixth optical surface reflects the image light that is guided in a prism surrounded by that at least four side surfaces, which are the second optical surface, the third optical surface, the fourth optical surface, and the fifth optical surface. The fourth optical surface and the fifth optical surface are inclined at a surface perpendicular to a surface include an incident-light axis of the image light, made by the incident-light axis and a reflected-light axis of the sixth optical surface. Moreover, the fourth optical surface and the fifth optical surface are inclined at a surface perpendicular to the incident-light axis. Furthermore, the sixth optical surface which is a reflecting surface has a rectangular shape.

Light-guiding prism and head-mounted video display apparatus using the same

A video display device includes an eyepiece; and a display panel that includes a display plane that has a diagonal length that is not greater than 40 mm, wherein the eyepiece includes a first lens group and a second lens group; the first lens group includes a first element that has a first optical surface on the side of the display panel and a second optical surface on the opposite side, wherein the first optical surface has a negative refractive power, and an outer region of the second optical surface has a negative curvature and is convex; the second lens group includes, a second element that has a Fresnel surface facing the side opposite to the display panel and having a positive refractive power, and a third element that has a Fresnel surface facing the side of the display panel and having a positive refractive power.

Video display device

An eyeglass-type display apparatus includes an eyeglass-front to be placed in front of the eyes of a user, left and right temples connected to the eyeglass-front and worn on the head of the user, a connector that adjusts the inclination of the eyeglass-front by rotating the eyeglass-front relative to the left and right temples, and an image display unit that is fixed to the eyeglass-front and projects image light onto an eyeball of the user. An axis of rotation of the connector is positioned on the eyeglass-front side of the center of the user's eyeball as viewed from the side.

Eyeglass-type display apparatus

A head-mounted display device is provided, the head-mounted display device including: a display element; a light guide prism that includes an incident surface through which image light from the display element enters and that guides the image light to user's eyes; and a housing that contains the display element and the light guide prism; and support unit that fixes the housing to user's head. The light guide prism is partially covered by and contained in the housing. A portion of side surface of the light guide prism covered by the housing is formed with a first groove, and portion of side surface of the light guide prism exposed outside the housing is formed with a second groove. Head-mounted display device

An eyepiece optical member has an easy-to-clean interior, and a head-mounted display device is provided with the eyepiece optical member. The eyepiece optical member includes a housing with a built-in display element, a light guide prism in which image light from the display element enters through an entrance surface and is guided to exit from an exit surface towards an eyeball of an observer so as to be observed as a magnified virtual image, and a protective member formed separately from the housing and covering a portion of the light guide prism. The housing includes two opposing plate-like portions, the light guide prism is fixed to the protective member as an assembled member, and the assembled member is sandwiched between the two opposing plate-like portions. The head-mounted display device includes a support member for fixation to a wearer's head and includes the eyepiece optical member attached to the support member.

Eyepiece optical member and head-mounted display device

The head-mounted display device includes a display element, a light guide prism that, in a state of use, guides a regular image light beam from the display element to an exit surface in front of the user's eye, and a support that secures the display element and the light guide prism with respect to the user's head. On at least one side along the optical axis of the regular image light beam, the light guide prism includes at least one first-type inclined surface at a position outside of the region through which the regular image light beam from the display element passes, and the first-type inclined surface is formed to be inclined so as to cause light incident on the first-type inclined surface from a direction along the optical axis of the regular image light beam to be reflected and emitted to the outside of the user's eyeball.

A support member for a wearable device includes first and second contact portions coming into contact with a temporal region of a head, a frame portion interposed along a frontal region of the head between the first and second contact portions, and first and second connection portions respectively connecting the first and second contact portions and the frame portion to each other. In a top view, in the first connection portion, a first extension portion extending from the first contact portion and a first frame extension portion are branched ahead of an ear from the frame portion, and in the second connection portion, a second extension portion extending from the second contact portion and a second frame extension portion are branched ahead of the other ear from the frame portion. At least one of the first and second frame extension portions includes a support portion supporting a wearable device.

Support member for wearable device

A first light blocking portion and a second light blocking portion are formed in at least one of the side surfaces of a light guide prism. The first light blocking portion and the second light blocking portion are arranged so that a shaded area and an invisible area overlap each other at least partly and cover an inter-groove area between the first light blocking portion and the second light blocking portion, where the shaded area is an area shadowed from image light due to the first light blocking portion, and the invisible area is an area invisible during virtual image observation by the observer due to the second light blocking portion.
