In this shift device, in a case in which an external force has acted on a lever when an operating mechanism is causing the lever to pivot, a clutch mechanism permits rotation of a first detent plate with respect to a second detent plate, such that pivoting of the lever is permitted. Note that a restraining mechanism urges the lever toward a shift position. This enables to the restraining mechanism to urge the lever separately to the clutch mechanism, thereby enabling the degrees of freedom for setting a biasing load on the lever by the restraining mechanism to be increased.

Shift device

In a shift device, contact projections of a rotation cylinder make contact with side faces of recesses of an detent plate due to an urging force so as to urge a lever toward a shift position side. The contact projections make line contact with the side faces of the recesses. This enables the contact amount between the contact projections and the side faces of the recesses to be increased, enabling the contact pressure between the contact projections and the side faces of the recesses to be lowered.

A shift device includes: a shift mechanism that is provided with a shift body that is movable to change a shift position; at least one rotation section that is provided at the shift mechanism and that is rotated about a center axis line of the rotation section; at least one moving section that is provided at the shift mechanism and that is moved; and a detection body that detects a rotation position of the rotation section and detects a movement position of the moving section.

In a shift lever device, a lever moves an operation member when the lever is rotationally operated in a front-rear direction, and the lever rotates a select link such that the select link moves the operation member when the lever is rotation operated in a left-right direction. The position of the operation member is detected to detect a shift position of the lever. When the lever is rotation operated in the front-rear direction, the lever therefore moves the operation member without being through the select link, thereby enabling the precision with which the shift position of the lever in the front-rear direction is detected to be raised.

A lever device includes a housing and a lever unit pivotally coupled to the housing. The lever unit includes a lever shaft and a pivot shaft that extends in a direction intersecting the lever shaft. The pivot shaft functions as a pivot axis of the lever unit when the lever is pivoted in a first direction. The housing includes a retainer that accommodates the pivot shaft. The pivot shaft includes first and second guides. The first guide slides on the retainer when the lever unit is pivoted in the first direction to permit movement of the lever unit. The second guide that slides on the retainer when the lever unit is operated in a second direction to permit movement of the lever unit.

Lever device

In a shift lever device, a gate pin of a lever is guided by a gate groove of a gate plate, and a detent pin of the lever is abutted on a detent face of a detent block due to an urging force. A sensor mechanism detects a shift position of the lever. The gate plate, the detent block, and the sensor mechanism are disposed at a lower side of the lever, the gate plate and the detent block are disposed at a rear side of the lever, and the sensor mechanism is disposed at a front side of the gate plate and the detent block. This thereby enables a reduction in size of the shift lever device in an up-down direction.

In a shift device, a 'D' switch, an 'N' switch, and an &#x201c;R&#x201d; switch are respectively installed to a right installation face, a front installation face, and a rear installation face of an installation body. The &#x201c;D&#x201d; switch, the &#x201c;N&#x201d; switch, and the &#x201c;R&#x201d; switch are separated from each other. This thereby enables easy identification of the positions of the &#x201c;D&#x201d; switch, the &#x201c;N&#x201d; switch, and the &#x201c;R&#x201d; switch, and enables simultaneous press-operation of two out of the &#x201c;D&#x201d; switch, the &#x201c;N&#x201d; switch, and the &#x201c;R&#x201d; switch to be suppressed, thereby enabling incorrect operation of the &#x201c;D&#x201d; switch, the &#x201c;N&#x201d; switch, and the &#x201c;R&#x201d; switch to be suppressed.

A lever device includes a single shaft for mounting a lever section to a housing. The lever section includes a shaft mounting section having an insertion hole. The lever support section of the shaft is disposed within the insertion hole and supports the lever section so that the lever section can move in the first direction and the second direction. A contact section is provided either to the housing and/or the lever section, or between the housing and the lever section. The contact section includes a curved surface which allows the lever section to move in the first direction and the second direction while the housing and the lever section are in contact with each other.
