A display device provided with a display region including a plurality of pixels and a frame region surrounding the display region includes a thin film transistor layer, a light-emitting element layer including a plurality of light-emitting elements, each including a first electrode, a light emitting layer, and a second electrode, and each having a different luminescent color. In the light-emitting layer, an oxetane monomer, an epoxy monomer, and a radical polymerization initiator are used.

In a display device including a light-emitting element layer formed on a thin film transistor layer, the light-emitting element layer includes pixel electrodes, a cover film, a light-emitting layer, and a common electrode. The pixel electrodes each include a flat first portion overlapping with the light-emitting layer and a second portion surrounding the first portion. The first portion protrudes toward the light-emitting layer compared to the second portion. The cover film covers the second portion and causes the first portion to expose. An upper face of the first portion and an upper face of the cover film form a flush planar face.

A liquid crystal display device including a first and second substrates and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a plurality of picture elements, and at least one of the plurality of picture elements includes: a switching element; a plurality of gate bus lines extending in a first direction and electrically connected to the switching element; a plurality of data bus lines extending in a second direction and electrically connected to the switching element; a first sub picture element electrode and a second sub picture element electrode disposed adjacent to the first sub picture element electrode with a gap therebetween, and a control electrode overlapping both the first and second sub picture element electrodes. The control electrode extends in the second direction. Each of the first and second sub picture element electrodes includes a cross-shaped connecting electrode part and microelectrode parts extending from the connecting electrode part.

A liquid crystal display including first and second substrates arranged opposite to each other to form a gap, with first and second alignment films provided on the first and second substrates, respectively. A cured material is provided on at least one of the first and second alignment films, and a liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal molecules is provided in the gap. A liquid crystal display device () according to the present invention includes: an active matrix substrate () having a pixel electrode (); a counter substrate () having a counter electrode (); a vertical-alignment type liquid crystal layer (); and alignment sustaining layers () provided between the active matrix substrate () and the liquid crystal layer () and between the counter substrate () and the liquid crystal layer (). Liquid crystal display and method for producing the same

A liquid crystal display device of the present invention is arranged such that a retardation of a liquid crystal layer which obtained while no voltage is applied falls within &#xb1;(a value which is one-tenth of a main wavelength) of a value obtained by adding natural number times the main wavelength to a total retardation of at least one optical compensation film.
